Ralph Nolan, 82, Harlan, died April 19, 2003, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. 
A retired miner, Nolan was a member of the U.M.W.A. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Mary Skidmore Nolan. 
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Nolan, Harlan; two sons: Mike Nolan and wife, Joan, Brooks, Ga.; and Don Nolan and wife, Karen, Lake City, Fla.; a brother, Quinton Nolan, Lexington; a sister, Barbara Nolan Rue, Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren: Michael Nolan, Dallas, Ga.; Tony Nolan, Lake City, Fla.; Donna Nolan, Lake City, Fla.; and Vickie Smoak, Sharpsburg, Ga. 
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rich Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Burkhart officiating. 
Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. 
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
