At Age 90 years--Oldest Woman In Harlan County

Mrs. Susan Malicoat, 90 years old and the oldest woman in Harlan County died 
suddenly at her home on North Main St. , Thursday night. Mrs. Malicoat had 
celebrated her 90th birthday Dec last. She entertained her guests with 
stories of events that occurred long before the War between the States. She 
had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for 75 years and claimed 
to be the oldest Methodist in the state in point of church membership. Mrs. 
Malicoat had helped wash the breakfast dishes, Thursday morning and seemed in 
better spirits than usual. The attack came in the afternoon and she lived 
only for a few minutes thereafter. Mrs. Malicoat, is survived by eleven 
children, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grand children and two 
great-great grandchildren. Her body was taken to her old home in LaFollette, 
Tenn, for burial.
