Dossie May RATLIFF d1986 (Don't think Ratliff was her biological father),
daughter of Mary Jane DIXON. Dossie May had at least 4 siblings (half and
full - who knows which?): Mally/Marie, Sam/French, Bill, and Boyd. It is
suspected that a William Henry CAUDILL sired at least one of these children,
perhaps more. We think that Dossie May, Boyd, and Sam/French are full siblings.
Dossie May married Frank Columbia LEWIS, Jr. (d1960) and settled in the
Huntington, WV area. They had 7 children: Ronald, Harvey, Marilyn, Jerrald
(b1939), Melinda, Larry, and Marlana. All but Ronald, who died as an infant,
are still living, mostly in the Huntington/Chesapeake area. There is reputedly
Native American lineage in Dossie May's ancestry (Blackfoot Dakotas).

We are from Tennessee, but in the early to mid 1930's, my grandparents
divorced and grandfather William English DAUGHERTY married a Kentucky woman
named Della FEE, born 15 May 1901. I don't know if that's her maiden name
or a name from a previous marriage. They lived around Graves Knob, Ky.
(Editor: this is probably Grays Knob) Grandfather was accidentally shot
and killed in Corbin, KY September 1941 by a man (R.O. FORE) who mistook
him for a prowler. He and Della had a son born between 1936 to 1939 and
our family has never heard anymore about him. We have often wondered what
became of him. He has a half brother and three half sisters still living.
They think he may have been named William Elmer DAUGHERTY or something
like that. Do you have any idea who he could be?

Working on a puzzle that has people stumped in 7 states. Maybe I can
find some help through you. Here goes... I am working on the descendants
of John GAMBILL, GAMBREL who was born abt 1781 in Wilkes Co NC. He made
his way into Clay Co KY in the early 1800's. He had at least nine sons
and 4 daughters with at least two wives, one of which was Elizabeth MILLER
(m in 1840's in Knox Co KY). The mystery I spoke of is trying to locate
the parents of John. We feel strongly that John is the son of Thomas GAMBILL
and Suckey BREWER who were married in Wilkes Co NC in 1780. Does Anyone
have anything they can offer as an answer to this puzzle. We have followed
a Thomas into Grainger Co TN and find a Thomas in Clay Co KY who fits.
We do not find Suckey with him and therefore cannot be certain it is the
Thomas we need. HELP! also, if there are any other Gambrel researchers
out there, I would love to compare research. Most all of the SE KY Gambrel
people (all variant spellings) can be traced back to John Gambill, Gambrel
who was born abt 1781 in Wilkes Co NC. Help me solve this puzzle, please.
