Letter as it appeared in the first edition of the  Highland Echo.
The letter is dated June 1983

Dear Fellow Historians:

     I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new members who are joining for the first time, as well as those who are already members.

     As this is the first issue of the Highland Echo, we hope everyone will find something of interest to them in the area of History or Genealogy of Johnson County. It will be dedicated to Johnson County's beginning, its founding fathers and descendents.

     We are very excited and full of enthusiasm for the growth and development of the Johnson County Historical and Genealogical Society along with the Highland Echo. The staff of the Highland Echo welcomes contributions of any historical or genealogical material to be published, giving full credit to the submitter.

     Again, welcome and we look forward to hearing from you.
