MUDLICK SCHOOL I am enclosing material that was found in an old school register, in the home of my grandfather after his death in 1980. It concerns the Little Mudlick School that was located in the head of the holler that ran beside his home. It was up the Elna road approximately one mile and then up a dirt road for about another mile. I hope this will be of some interest to someone. The old school house is gone now but many people started their education in this one room school. In July 1911 there were 58 pupils enrolled. August 1911, there were 58 pupils enrolled. September and October there were also 58 enrolled November and December was also 58 enrolled. Attendance was based on number enrolled and started with 78$ for July, 72$ for August and 43% for September, 31% for October and 25 and 33$ respectively for November and December. Also included on the daily roll were the names Ray Burchett and Earl Burchett. Also Herbert Lemaster, Goldie Williams. I do not know if they were children of a family already in attendance or not, as one page of the register is missing. There were also the names found on the daily roll of Dixie Williams, Polka Pendleton and James Pelfrey. Goldie and Lesta Williams, William Curtis were also-found on the daily register. The number of pupils enrolled in grade 1 were 31. There was 1 pupil enrolled in grade 2. 2 pupils were enrolled in grade 3. 6 were enrolled in grade 4, and 10 in grade 5. There were 5 in grade 6, 3 in grade 7 and 1 in grade 8. The names of pupils and the grades they were are on a seperate page.
