Hospital. She is survived by her husband William Napper.

Ellen Jucoff, 85 years old, widow of J. C. Jucoff, died at 4 o’clock
yesterday morning at
the home
of her son-in-law, Henry Wessell of Valley Station. She is
survived by a daughter,
Mrs.
Henry Wessell, and a brother, John Welch. Funeral arrangements
have not been made.

Mrs.
Philip C. Miller passed away Sunday morning April 23, at her home near
Lanesville.
She died
of pneumonia after a very brief illness no one realizing that her
condition was
serious.
The funeral was at the Reformed Church near Crandall and the burial
was in the
church
cemetery.
The
following obituary was sent for publication: Mrs. Rosa
Miller, daughter
of
Mr. William and Mrs. Margaret Rudel, was born near Lanesville October
16, 1873, and died April 23rd 1922, aged forty-eight years, six months
and seven days. On May the 8th 1904 she
was
united in marriage to Philip C. Miller. To this union were born seven
daughters, the oldest of which was called away in infancy. She thus
leaves surviving her a husband and six
daughters as follows: Alma L., Loretta, Rosetta, Thelma R., Elnora E.,
and Carrie Gertrude.
She also
leaves surviving her an aged mother, two sisters and one brother and a
host of
relatives and friends. On the 8th day of May 1887 she
was received into full membership of
the
Reformed Church, near Crandall by confirmation, and remained a true
and faithful
member
unto the end of life. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a
true friend.

WINFIELD,
LOUIS, 63 years old, a truck gardener, died at 2:30 o’clock
yesterday afternoon at his home on the Dixie Highway near the city
limits. Beside his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Winfield, he is survived by
four daughters; Mrs. B. G. Ball and Misses Lillian, Bertha and
Estelle Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock
tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.

Peter
Day, one of the county’s oldest men and highly respected citizens,
passed away at four
o’clock last Sunday afternoon at his home in Lanesville. His death
followed a six weeks’ illness. The deceased was seventy-six
years, two months and twenty-two days old. He is survived by
four sons and three daughters. They are – Albert and
Otto, of New Albany, Oscar and August,
Mrs.
Amelia Jaegers, Mrs. Louise Ringle and Mrs. Flora Rochner, all of
Lanesville. One son
Charles was a soldier in the World War and died at Camp Taylor. Mrs.
Day died about six
months
ago. Mr. Day was a soldier in the Civil War serving in the
144th Inf. Ind. He was also a
charter member of the Lanesville Mutual Aid Society. Funeral
services were held Tuesday
morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the burial
was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Father
Adam Barron conducted the funeral obsequies.

Mrs.
Belle Kiesler, the esteemed wife of Hilary Kiesler, of Morgan
Township, died suddenly
Monday
morning, November 13 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Voyles
in New Albany. She went there Sunday to visit for a few days
and was in her usual health. She was heard
walking in her room by Mr. and Mrs. Voyles that morning and Mr.
Voyles had left home to go
to his
work. Mrs. Kiesler went into the bathroom and was evidently attacked
by heart disease to which she was subject and died there. Mrs.
Kiesler was fifty-six years old and is survived by her
husband, four sons and four daughters. Her maiden
name was Jacobi. She leaves two brothers and two sisters. The body
was taken to the family home near Palmyra, Monday
afternoon and funeral services were held Wednesday morning, November
15 at 9 o’clock at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Bradford of
which the deceased was a member.

George
W. O’Hearn, 35 years old, a plumber, died at 7:50 o’clock last night
at the Jewish
Hospital,
where he had been taken twenty-four hours before when his gasoline
torch exploded at the home of Antonio Repetto, a relative, at 213
South Bayly Avenue. William Ruppel, brother-in-law of O’Hearn,
injured at the same time, is at his home, 538 North Twentieth
Street, suffering with severe gasoline burns, but will recover.
O’Hearn and Ruppel were assisting in installing a gas stove at the
Repetto home. Just what caused the gasoline torch to explode,
firemen were unable to determine. Both O’Hearn and Ruppel were
leaning over it at the time. The clothes of both were set afire, and
O’Hearn was covered with burning gasoline. He tried to extinguish
the flames by rolling on the ground. He was still afire when firemen
reached the house in answer to a fire alarm. Besides his widow, Mrs.
Virginia Ruppel O’Hearn,
O’Hearn leaves four sisters, Mrs. Charles Ede, Mrs. Paul Bere, Mrs.
Carl Bauer of Oakland, Calif. and Miss Catherine O’Hearn; a brother
Bernard O’Hearn, and his father James W. O’Hearn.

The Courier-Journal first reported on
11/18/1922 that:
Mrs.
Mary Zinsmeister, 55 years old, is in a serious condition at SS.
Mary and Elizabeth
Hospital as a result of burns suffered at 2:45 o’clock yesterday
afternoon when gasoline
exploded in the kitchen of her home, 1308 South Sixth Street.
According to members of the
family, Mrs. Zinsmeister was cleaning a coat when the accident
occurred. She had placed a
quantity of gasoline in a pot of boiling water on the stove to heat.
It is thought she spilled the
gasoline in attempting to take it from the stove. Frank Dubourg, her
son, who was asleep
upstairs, heard Mrs. Zinsmeister’s screams and extinguished the
flames with a blanket. Dr. Leo

morning at SS. Mary

Elizabeth Hospital of burns received Friday afternoon in a gasoline

1308 South Sixth Street. According to members of the family, Mrs.
Zinsmeister was

survived by her sons, William Zinsmeister and Frank Dubourg; two
daughters, Miss Mayme
Zinsmeister and Mrs. C. A. Luckert and four sisters, Mrs. Fannie

Mrs.
J. Manning of Louisville and Mrs. William Breen of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be
held
at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic
Church. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery.
