THELMA
STASEL ACREE, 83, of Louisville, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at
Norton Hospital.
She
was the former Thelma Freeman, a native of Louisville, retired from
General Electric, where she worked for 27 years, and a member of
Southeast Christian Church. “Today the angels came to take you
home. No longer do you have to live in a body and mind that grew
sick and tired. Now there is no more pain, no longer do you have to
be afraid. God’s arms will always be there for you to feel safe.
Although you leave a grieving family and tow daughters who will
forever miss you, we know the heavens will be brighter because you
are there.”
She
was preceded in death by parents, George F. and Lora E. Freeman, and
her husband, Charles Stasel.
Survivors
include two daughters, Jean L. Burton (Bobby) and Sheri Papp (Ken);
a sister, Ella Kischner (Paul); two brothers, James Freeman and Guy
Freeman; six grandchildren, Phyllis and Michael Burton and Troy,
Keith, Christopher and Melissa Naufel; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Her
funeral will be held at 1 p.m.Monday at Highlands Family-Owned
Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with entombment in Evergreen
Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Highlands.
Memorial
gifts may go to Hospice of Louisville.

BARNES, 76, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2004, at
Jewish Hospital
She
was the former Pauline Orick, a native of Harlan County, KY, and the
owner and operator of Pauline’s Coiffure for 33 years. She was
member of Beechmont Woman’s Club.
Pauline
is survived by her husband, Sherman Barnes; a daughter, Carolyn Anne
Hord; two sisters, Juanita Oster and Janet Rowland; one brother,
Eddie Orick; and two granddaughters, Theresa Leezer and Rebecca
DiChlara.
Her
funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelley Funeral
Home, (family-owned and operated), with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Saturday.

aunts; two nieces; and three nephews.

BETHA
E. COUCHMAN, 94, of Louisville, died Wednesday, February 25,
2004, at Baptist Hospital East.
She
was the former Bertha E. Schmidt, a native of Greenlawn, NY, a
retired office clerk for New York Telephone Co. and had also
worked at Huntington (NY) Hospital. She was a member of Hope
Lutheran Church and Jephthah’s Daughter Order of the Eastern
star #187 in Huntington.
She
is survived by a son; two grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Ellen Hammel; and her
Kentucky family and friends.
Her
funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran
Church, 4200 Shenandoah Drive in Louisville. Visitation will
be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Stoess Funeral Home in
Crestwood. Burial will be in Huntington Rural Cemetery in New
York.

LUCILLE ARNOLD, 78, of Louisville, died Thursday, February 26, 2004.
She
was a native of Owensboro, KY, the former Ann Lucille Mehibauer and
a Catholic by faith.
She is
survived by her husband, Shirley Arnold; her childrens and their
spouses, Stephen Arnold, Marsha and Jim Robards, Carey Arnold, Mary
Jo Brown, Kathy and Eddie Chastain, Mark and Vickie Arnold, Annette
and Mark Stambaugh and John and Betty Arnold; 12 grandchildren;
three great- grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret Krack and
Catherine Mehibauer.
The
body was cremated, Her funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at
Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., a family-owned and operated
funeral home center. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Saturday.
Memorial
gifts may be made to the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s
Association, WHAS Crusade for Children or Nazareth Home.

KEEHNER BLANTON, 81, of Louisville, died Friday, July 2, 2004,
at Parkway Medical Center. She
was a retired operator and cafeteria manager for Bell South
and a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.
She
was the devoted and loving wife of the late Kenny Blanton.
Mary was also predeceased by her grandson, Brian Blanton.
She
is survived by her son, Kenny Blanton; granddaughter, Renee
Williams; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Zach Williams;
sisters, Ann Mayes and Betty Jean Bowles; and her brother,
Billy Keehner.
Her
funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at
Immanuel United Church of Christ, 2300 Taylorsville Rd., with
interment in Calvary
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 –8
p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Arch L. Heady & Son, Oak
Street.

LUCY
M DOLT, of Louisville, died Thursday, July 1,
2004, at Hospice & Palliative care of
Louisville’s Inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare
Pavilion.
Lucy
formerly taught acrobatic dancing, tap dancing and
ballet at Flanady School of Dance in the 1940s and
1950s. She was a performer with the Kentucky
Colonelettes during World War II, making frequent
appearances at Ft. Knox. She was also a member of
the Louisville Bar Auxiliary for nearly 50
years. She
was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Newman
Voelker, and her father, William H. Voelker, the
founder of Tony’s Wrecker Service, Inc.
She was the beloved wife of Frederick C.
Dolt Sr. and beloved mother of Jerry Schade
(Martha) and
Frederick C. Dolt Jr. (Suzanne). She leaves
four grandchildren, Lee A. Schade, Frederick C.
Dolt III (Corey) and Caroline E. Dolt; and one
great-granddaughter, Aundrea L. Schade.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.
Monday at Pearson’s, 149 Breckenridge Lane, with
burial in Resthaven Memorial
Park. Visitation will
be from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 2-6
p.m. Sunday.

ANTHONY BRADLEY, 75, of Louisville, died Thursday, February 26,
2004, at Caritas Medical Center.
He was
a retired tobacco worker for Brown & Williamson and a member of AA for 25 years and Al-Anon.
He is
survived by his wife, the former Regina Sims; four sons, Richard
(Sandy) Bradley, Roger (JoAnn) Bradley, Terry (Janice) Bradley and
Mike (Debbie) Bradley; four brothers, Willard, Raymond, Hershel and
Tony Bradley; five sisters, Odeline Hill, Teresa Gilpin, Ann Higdon,
Mary Lou Cundiff and Clara Blackwood; 13 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
The
funeral will be held at noon Monday at St. Denis Catholic Church,
4205 Cane Run Rd., with entombment in Resthaven Memorial
Park.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Saturday, 1-9 p.m. Sunday and after
9 a.m. Monday at J. B. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, Southwest,

SOMMER BROWN, 82, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, February 25,
2004, at Eastern Star Nursing Home.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Brown.
Survivors
include her daughter, Shirley Gurley; a grandson, Steven H. Gurley
and his wife, Mary Gayle; great-grandchildren, Laurie Gurley Doyle
and her husband Michael, and Douglas Gurley; and a great-great
granddaughter,
Megan Shea Doyle. All are of Louisville. She is also survived by her
sisters, Ann Gramms and Margaret Steinke, and brothers, Louis Sommer
and his wife Elva, and Peter Sommer and his wife, Jane, all of
Michigan.
There
will be no visitation. Burial will be private on Saturday in Rose
Lawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, IN. Arrangements by Owen Funeral
Home, Jeffersontown, a family-owned and operated funeral home
center.
In
lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made to Hospice of
Louisville.

J.
PHILIP CLEMENTS, 94, of Port Charlotte, Fl., formerly of
Louisville, died at 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2004
He
was a wonderful and loving husband and father, being devoted
to family.
Mr.
Clements was born January 3, 1910, in Fulton, KY, to Luke
Johnson Clements and Lerlyne Browder Clements and married Mai
Luten in 1928 before moving to Louisville, where he resided
until moving to Port Charlotte in 1994.
Mr.
Clements was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with BS
and MS degrees in chemistry. He taught mathematics for nine
years and was the founder and president of Fulltone Foto
Company (a photo finishing plant located in Louisville) for
over 50 years. Mr. Clements was an eagle scout, a Kentucky
Colonel and a veteran of World War II, where he was stationed
in Belgium. Phil was an avid golfer and a member of Audubon
Country Club in Louisville for 50 years. He was also a member
of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
Mr.
Clements was preceded in death by his wives, Mai Luten of 60
years and Dorothy of 10 years; son, Philip Luke Clements; and
sisters, Sue Gentry and Jessie Black.
Survivors
include his daughters, Ann (Durfee) Marshall of Port Charlotte
and Sue (Jim) May of Louisville; his brother, David (Helen)
Clements of Wellington, Fl; eight grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two
stepchildren, Julie (Tom) Wanca and Pete (Karen) Seiler; four
step grandchildren; and a special friend, Doris Followell.
A
memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 29,
2004, at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
James Kuse officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3
p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Resthaven Memorial Park in
Louisville for family and friends. Arrangements are by Paul
Schelm funeral Home, Port Charlotte.
