What is the DAR?
Here's a little history about the DAR;
The first organizational meeting on October 11, 1890, is considered to be the official date of the founding of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Eighteen members enrolled for membership.
The First Continental Congress of the NSDAR was held February 22-24, 1892, in Washington, D.C. Memberships by then had increased to 1306. In 1896, the President of the United States, Grover Cleveland, signed the Act of Congress that incorporated the NSDAR.
The DAR is a national society founded by women for historical, educational, and patriotic purposes.
