In the census year of 1840 Johnson County, KY had not yet come into existence. Floyd County was one of several counties from which Johnson County was eventually carved.

Many of our Johnson County ancestors were originally Floyd Countians, and for that reason Kayleene Lowe has kindly provided us with her transcription of the 1840 Floyd County Census.

There were many differences between the 1840 census and those that followed. For that reason, please take time to read Kayleene's introduction to the 1840 Floyd County census.

All information provided herein is copyrighted by Kayleene . Her generosity in donating this work to the Rootsweb site puts us all in her debt.
