Adams, Charles - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Infantry, USA. Enlisted 22 Sep., 1861 and discharged 11 Mar., 1866. He is buried in the Cromer Cemetery, Pittsburg, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Andrews, Elbert M. - Pvt., Co. A, 24th KY Infantry, USA. Enlisted 31 Dec., 1861 and discharged 31 Jan., 1868.  He was born 7 Jun., 1864 and died 9 Jun., 1890.  He is buried in the Carter Cemetery, Victory, Laurel Co., KY. Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Baker, Henderson - Pvt., Co. B, 19th Reg., KY Infantry Vols, USA. Dates of service are Jan. 2, 1862 to Jan. 26, 1865. Henderson was born Dec. 18, 1828, in Perry County, Ky, and died Jan. 31, 1916 in Laurel Co., Ky. He is buried in Lawson Cemetery, Fariston, Laurel Co. According to his pension record, he moved to Laurel Co. in 1904.  Submitted by his gg-granddaughter, Norma Adams and great granddaughter, Shirley Butzin.
Ball, Floyd S. - 17th Reg. KY.  Buried on Falls City Rd. near London, KY in an unnamed cemetery.  In this cemetery stands two very old stones.  One states Floyd S. Ball 17th Reg. KY.  The stone next to it is marked Abigail Ball.  Submitted by Cathy Parker.
Banton, John - Capt., Co. F, 8th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Killed in action 3 January, 1863. Home address London, Ky from  Report of Adjutant General, State of KY, Vol. 2.  Source is It Happened Here in Laurel County, KY  by Jess Wilson.
Barnett, Moses M. - 1st Sgt., Co. F, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. He was born 30 Apr., 1840 and died on 4 Apr., 1903. Enlisted 22 Sep., 1861 and was discharged on 5 Oct., 1964. Buried in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Keavy, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Baugh, Joseph F. - 1Lt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enrolled on 13 Feb., 1863 and discharged 11 Mar., 1866.  Lt. Baugh was a descendant of pioneer John Pearl.  Served in Co. K with his brother Sidney. Source is Laurel County's Companies "K" in the Mexican War and the Civil War by Jess Wilson. He was born 9 May, 1839 and died 13 May, 1899. Baugh, Sidney C. - 1st Sgt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Mustered in 22 Sep., 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson.  Died in service at Cumberland Ford on 6 Mar., 1862. Source is Laurel County's Companies "K" in the Mexican War and the Civil War by Jess Wilson.  He was born 17 Dec., 1836.  He is buried in the Landrum Cemetery, Oakley, Laurel Co., Ky. Bolton, Alexander Sr. - Pvt., Co. G, 13th KY Cavalry, CSA. Served from 23 Dec., 1863 to 10 Jan., 1865. Born 29 May 1836, died 16 Dec., 1912. Buried in Scott Hale Cemetery, Laurel Co., KY. Father of 16 children and a blacksmith by trade. Submitted by John F. Wilson. Boreing, Murry - First Sgt., Co. A, 24th Regiment KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted in 1861 and served 3 years. Served with his son, Vincent Boreing.  Member of the GAR.  Mr. Boreing was born in Washington County, Tenn., February 14, 1813, removed to Laurel County in the year 1848, where he spent the greater portion of his life. Boreing, Vincent - 1Lt. Co. A, 24th Regiment KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted as a Pvt. 1 Nov., 1861 and was later commissioned as an officer for meritorious conduct.  He was born near Jonesboro, Washington County, Tenn., November 24, 1839; moved with his father to Laurel County in 1847; attended Laurel Seminary, London, Ky., and Tusculum College, Greenville, Tenn. He was the county superintendent of public schools 1868-1872. He established the Mountain Echo at London, Ky., in 1875, the first Republican newspaper published in southeastern Kentucky.  He became county judge in 1886. He was president of the Cumberland Valley Land Co. in 1887 and  president of the First National Bank of London in 1888. He served as department commander of the Grand Army of the Republic in Kentucky in 1889. He was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-sixth, Fifty-seventh, and Fifty-eighth Congresses and served from March 4, 1899, until his death in London, Laurel County, Ky., September 16, 1903; interment is in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Source is the  Biographical Dictionary of the Congress of the United States.

Brown, Granville H. - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enlisted 22 Sep., 1861 and was discharged on 5 Oct., 1864.  He was born 27 Mar., 1840 and died on 26 Jul., 1907.  He is buried in the Brown Cemetery, Boreing, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Bush, Thomas - Pvt., Co. D, 19th KY Infantry, USA. Enlisted 2 Jan., 1862 and was discharged 26 Jan., 1865.  He is buried in the Campground Cemetery, Boreing, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Carter, Cary L. - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enlisted 22 Sep., 1861 and discharged 5 Oct., 1864. He is buried in the Carter Cemetery, Victory, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Cline, Charles Riley. - Pvt., 24th KY  Infantry, USA. Born January 29, 1843.  Served from Nov. 18, 1861,  served 3 years and was wounded. Absent without leave from Jan 26, 1863 to Mar. 31, 1863.  He died at Douglas, Kansas March 26, 1916.  His father, Samuel F. Cline, and brother, John Whitfiedl Cline, both served in the 10th KY Infantry.  Samuel survived the war and died at Holden Hills, Missouri July 1, 1894.  John was born Nov. 7th 1848 and died March 10th at Nashville, Tennessee during the Civil War.  Submitted by unknown.
Coldwell, Dr. Thomas Peyton - Capt. (later Major), Commander of Laurel County's Co. K (Coldwell's Co.), 7th KY Infantry, USA. He was the son of Captain Andrew Forgey Coldwell, commander of Laurel County's company during the Mexican War, and Francis "Fannie" Jones. After the Civil War he got his MD from the University of  Louisville Medical School and practiced medicine for over 50 years in  London, Laurel Co., KY. Dr. Coldwell was born 24 Feb 1842 in Perry Co., KY and died 26 Feb., 1923 at London, Laurel Co., KY.  He is buried in London, KY. He married Mary "Mollie" Lincks of Laurel Co., KY on 20 Nov., 1877 in Laurel Co., KY.  They had 7 children.  Submitted by Carlisle Skeen.  Note:  View a muster roster of Company K here. - Cpl., Co. B, 49th KY Infantry, USA.  Marshall Cobb was the 2nd husband of Sinia Frazier Gregory.  Her first husband was Speedwell Gregory (listed below) who was killed in the civil war. Submitted by Olan Watkins.
Combs, Malin - Pvt., Co. A, 24th KY Infantry, USA.  Enlisted 31 Dec., 1861. He is buried in the Cromer Cemetery, Pittsburg, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Creech, John G. - Cpl., Co. B, 7th KY Infantry, USA. Enlisted 14 Mar., 1862. He is buried in the Creech Cemetery, McWhorter, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Cromer, Jerome G. - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Infantry, USA. Enlisted 26 Aug., 1861. He died 2 Mar., 1862. He is buried in the Cromer Cemetery, Pittsburg, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Dyche, Allen - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enlisted 22 Sep., 1861 and discharged 12 Jan., 1863.  He was born 11 Dec., 1811 and died 30 Jun., 1863.  He is buried in the Campground Cemetery, Boreing, Laurel Co., KY. Early, John Rank Unk, Co. E, 8th KY Infantry, USA.  He was born in Laurel County December 5th, 1840. He died in Harmony, Indiana 1937. He enlisted in Clay Co. KY.  He participated in the Battle of Lookout Mountain and served until 1865 . He married Nancy Jane Steele in 1865 and had 13 children.  He died Oct. 15, 1937 in Harmony, Indiana.  At time of his death had 125 living descendents, including 8 children, 40 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and 4 great(2) grandchildren. Estep, Samson - Pvt., Co. I, 8th KY Infantry. Enlisted 13 Nov., 1861. He is buried in the Estep Cemetery, Lake, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Evans, Melvin - Sgt., Co. K, 39th U.S. Infantry. He is buried in the Landrum Cemetery, Oakley, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Eversole, Abner - 2Lt., 14th KY Volunteer Cavalry, USA.  First joined the 6th KY Cavalry, USA.  Wounded in the Battle of Richmond.  Then he joined up as a 2Lt. in the 14th KY Cavalry.  He was born 13 Jan. 1843, to Joe and Sally Bowling Eversole. When the war was over he returned to Perry county, and in 1870 he began a term as county assessor. After three years as Perry Co. assessor, he moved to Laurel Co., and in 1877 was elected to the state legislature from the Laurel-Rockcastle district.  He lived in Laurel Co. until 1888. Eversole, Joseph W. - Pvt., Co. L, 14th KY Volunteer Cavalry, USA.  Enlisted 13 Feb., 1863 and discharged 24 Mar., 1864. He is buried in the Eversole Cemetery, Hazel Patch, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Eversole, Lewis - Pvt., Co. M, 14th KY Volunteer Cavalry, USA.  Enlisted 15 Jun., 1863 and discharged 24 Mar., 1864. He is buried in the Eversole Cemetery, Hazel Patch, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Farley, Jeremiah - Pvt., Co. A, 7th KY Infantry, USA.  Enlisted on 9 Feb., 1862 and was discharged in 1864.  He was born 6 Jan., 1846 and died on 17 Dec., 1922.  He is buried in the Boggs Cemetery, London, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Feltner, William - Pvt., Co. I, 8th KY Infantry, USA.  Enlisted on 15 Jan., 1862 and was discharged 17 Aug., 1865.  He was born 14 Aug., 1840 and died on 21 Jan., 1921.  He is buried in the Feltner Farm Cemetery, Greenmont, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Fortney, Jonas F. - Sgt., Co. B, 49th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted  on 19 Sep., 1863 and was discharged 26 Dec., 1864.  He is buried in the Fortney Cemetery, Hazelpatch, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS. Frasher, Calvin - Cpl., Co. C, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted  on 22 Sep., 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson, KY and was discharged 5 Oct., 1864.  Also known as Fragier, Frasure, & Frazier on these same records. He was born Feb., 1837 in Laurel Co., KY.  On 18 Dec., 1865 he married Alabama Gray, b. Sep., 1841. Submitted by Mary Frasher.
Frasher, William - Pvt., Co. C, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted  on 22 Sep., 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson, KY.  He was unaccounted for and died during the war.  Pension was drawn by mother.  He is the brother of Calvin Frasher.  Also known as Fragier, Frasure, & Frazier.  Submitted by Mary Frasher.
Frisbee, Joseph - 2Lt., Co. I, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted  on 24 Apr., 1863 and was resigned 27 Aug., 1863.  He is buried in the Hopewell Cemetery, Dorethea, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Gibbs, Abraham - Pvt., Co. B, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA.  Enlisted  on 19 Aug., 1861 and was resigned 11 Mar., 1865.  He is buried in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty School, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS. Girtman, Alfred - Pvt., Co. K, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enrolled on the 29th of November, 1861. Honorably discharged at Baton Rouge on 11th March, 1866. Wounded in hand about the 1st of June, 1863 at Vicksburg, MS.  Also served in Co. B, 7th Regt. KY as a veteran.  Pension # 301856 filed May 6, 1882. Left Laurel Co. in 1871 and is buried at Chapman Cemetery Goreville, Illinois. Submitted by Rick Girtman.
Gregory, Speedwell - Pvt., Co. I, 8th KY Infantry, USA. He was killed 30 Aug., 1863.  He was first buried at Readyville
but his remains were later moved to the National Cemetery at Stone's River near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is buried in Section I, grave number 392. He was married to Sinia Frazier and they had 6 children. His daughter, Susan Gregory, married William Reed Watkins on 29 Jan., 1877 in London, KY. After the Civil War, Sinia married Marshal L. Cobb, who had served in the 49th KY. Inf., USA. Submitted by Olan Watkins.
Griffin, Thomas - Sgt., Co. F, 116th Infantry (COL). Enlisted 30 Jun., 1864.  He was born 10 Mar., 1848 and died 26 Dec., 1920.  He is buried in the Cemetery Hill Cemetery, London, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.

Hampton, James - C Co., 7th KY Volunteer Infantry and C Co., 3rd KY Infantry.  Husband of Manervy Hampton and father of Elizabeth Hampton both of Laurel Co., KY.  Pension date filed:  Invalid-1870 Application #1601*9 Certificate #409512 Filed from KY.  Widow filed Aug. 5, 1897 Application #659982 Cert. #486065 Filed from KY.  Other filing: 1898 App. # 672433 Filed from KY.  Submitted by Rick Girtman.
Harbin, C. C. - Capt., Co. C, 2nd North Carolina Mounted Inf. He enlisted and then was elected Capt. of his company and served for 3 years.  At the close of the war he moved to Laurel Co. and was the jailer of Laurel Co. for 4 years.  He was born 29. Sep., 1825.  Towards the end of his life he emigrated to the West and lived with his daughter,  Mrs. Mary Jones, of Tallequah, Indian Territory where he died 24 Mar., 1902. He left three children, one of whom is Mr. Milton Harbin of Laurel Co. Source is Excerpts from the Mt. Echo, 1902 by the LCHS.
Harbin, Milton G. - Cpl., Co. C, 2nd North Carolina Mounted Inf. Enlisted 26 Sep., 1863 and discharged 16 Aug., 1865. He is buried at the Cemetery Hill Cemetery, London, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Hardigree, David - Pvt., Co. A, 12th Georgia Battalion (Newnan Artillery), CSA. Reported missing 16 Oct 1862 Big Hill, KY. After the battle of Big Hill he thought he saw brother Edwin in a wagon of dead and never saw him again. Listed as deserter after the battle. Captured by the union forces he then joined as a Pvt. in Co. K, 13th Regt TN Vol. Cavalry, USA. Ashamed of having fought against Confederates, he never returned to his home state and settled in Kentucky.  Pension number is 546421. David was born on 10 Aug, 1844 in Holmes Co., MS to Hiram Hardigree and Mary Coleman. David was 1st married to Sarah Anne Asher and had 3 children. He then married Margaret "Peggy" Asher and had 2 children. David Hardigree died on 26 Aug, 1919 at Brock, Laurel Co., Ky and is buried at Mary Dell in Laurel Co., KY. Schoville formed Co A in Laurel Co, KY. before Dec 1861. SHILOH, TN, 6/7 April 1862.  The 24th KY commanded by Col Lewis B. Grigsby, part of the 21st brigade commanded by Col George D. Wagner, part of the 6th Division commanded by Brig Gen Thomas J. Wood, part of the Army of the Ohio commanded by Major Gen Don Carlos Buell. Brigade loss: 4 wounded.  This battle was a Confederate victory.  PERRYVILLE, KY, 8 Oct 1862. This battle was a Union victory.  The 24th KY commanded by Col Lewis Braxton Grigsby, was part of the 21st brigade commanded by Col George D. Wagner, part of the 6th division commanded by Brig Gen Thomas J. Wood, part of the 2nd Army Corps commanded by Major Gen Thomas L. Crittenden, part of the Army of the Ohio commanded by Major General Don Carlos Buell.  The brigade was only slightly engaged in the battle and only had 2 men missing. ATLANTA CAMPAIGN, 3 May - 8 Sep 1864.  The 24th KY commanded by Col John S. Hurt, was part of the 2nd brigade commanded by Brig Gen Mahlon D. Manson, was part of the 3rd division commanded by Brig Gen Jacob D. Cox, which was part of the Army of the Ohio (23rd Corps) commanded by Major Gen John M. Schofield, which was part of the Union Army commanded by Major Gen William T. Sherman.  In the OR, a report from Col John S. Hurt, dated 7 July 1864, states '...skirmishers thrown forward, under 1st Lt Johnson, Co A, and joined upon those of Gen Hascall's division, and here occurred one of the most brilliant skirmishes I ever witnessed. Lt Johnson, though having but 20 men, captured 10 of the enemy. Six of the enemy's dead were found in his front.'  KNOXVILLE, TN, 17 Nov - 4 Dec 1863 This siege was a Union success. Lucy, Henry J. - Pvt., Co. Moore and Alcie Elmore.  He was married 1st to Missouri Anderson on 28 Nov., 1868 in Laurel Co., KY. They had 5 children.  He was married second to Tennessee McDaniel on 18 Sep., 1884 in Laurel Co., KY. They had 10 children. John died on 2 Dec, 1916 at Maplesville, Laurel Co., KY. and is buried in the Southard Cemetery. His son John Franklin Moore drew a pension, #886091, as guardian of his father's minor children. Enlisted at Camp Dick Robinson, Garrard Co., KY. on 22 Sep., 1861.  He died on 9 Jan., 1892 at 76 years of age. He was a member of the H. H. Scoville Post of the G. A. Owens, Washington - Pvt., Co. C, 7th KY Volunteer Infantry, USA. His dates of service are September 22, 1861 to Febuary 29, 1864.  Washington Owens was born December 12, 1837 in Laurel Co., Ky to Reuben and Fanny (Hatfield) Owens.  He mustered in at Camp Dick Robinson.  His pension records show that in July and August of 1863 he was in the hospital in New Orleans, La.  He suffered with symptoms which could have been malaria.  His first pension application was in 1892, at which time it was rejected.  He did apply for pension again in 1895 and in 1907 was approved for $12 a month. No pension record has been located.  Allen Pinkston was born abt 1811 - 1814 in Madison Co., KY.  He was a resident of Laurel Co., KY from about 1857 - ?. Thompson, William Jackson
- Pvt., Co. H, 7th KY Infantry, USA. Mustered in at Barbourville, Knox Co on 20 Sep, 1861. Mustered out on 5 Oct., 1864 at Louisville, KY. Born in Tennessee on 31 May 1834, to John Thompson and Elizabeth Jane Wheeler. William died in Frogpond, Laurel Co., KY on 9 September 1914. William married Luvicy Jane Chance in 1865, she was born in 1844 in Rose Hill, Lee Co., VA and died 1 April 1880, Laurel Co., KY. They are both buried in Wiggington Cemetery, Laurel Co., KY. Luvicy and William had 8 children. William married his 2nd wife, Mandy Jane Brunner on 20 November 1888. William was awarded a pension for his service, Certificate No. 278564. Submitted by Charles S. Truitt, Jackson - Pvt., Co. E, 14th KY Vol Inf., USA. Enlisted  on 13 Feb., 1863 and was discharged 24 Mar., 1864.  He is buried in the Liberty Cemetery, Rt. 2 London, Laurel Co., KY.   Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Waddle, William C. - Pvt., Co. I, 49th KY Infantry. Enlisted 19 Sep., 1863 and discharged 26 Dec.,1864.  He is buried in the Casteel Cemetery, East Bernstadt, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Wardrup, Ezekial  - Pvt., Co. A, 64th NC Infantry, CSA. Enlisted 10 May, 1862 and discharged 16 Jun., 1865. He is buried in the East Colony Cemetery, Bernstadt, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Warren, Calvin - Pvt., Co. B, 7th KY Cavalry, 13th Army Corps, USA. Enlisted 16 Aug, 1862 at Parris, KY. Discharged on 10 July, 1865. Pension application 12 Jun., 1890. Calvin was born 27 Feb, 1841 in Rockcastle Co, KY to Rebecca Warren. He died 26 May, 1938 in London, KY and is buried in the Southard Cemetery. Calvin was married to Sary Ann Frost and had 6 children. He married 2nd to Susan Ellen Patton and had 1 child. He moved to Laurel Co., KY about 1890. Was a sawmill worker by trade. Watts, William - Pvt., Co. E, Three Forks Bat.  Enlisted 19 Feb., 1865 and discharged 17 Jul., 1865.  He was born 5 Feb., 1834 and died 26 Jun., 1912.  He is buried in the Campground Cemetery, Boreing, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
Wood, Thomas - Pvt., Co. A, 24th KY Infantry. Served from October, 1861 to January, 1865.
Woodall, Richard - Pvt., Co. B, 12th Regiment 2nd Infantry.  Enlisted 12 Oct., 1861 and discharged in 1864.  He was born 6 Jun., 1844 and died 29 Oct., 1904. He is buried in the Hazelpatch Cemetery, Hazelpatch, Laurel Co., KY.  Source is  Branches of Laurel Vol. III, No. 1, Jan., 1988 by the LCHS.
