"Leander was a graduate of Louisa High School and warsham College of Embalming in Chicago,Ill. He was the Byron Funeral Director for 50 years and was the President of the Eastern Kentucky Funeral Director's Association. He served as the Lawrence County Coroner. During WWII (SEE CORRECTION BELOW...didn't serve in WWII) he assisted in the operations of the Ground Observer Group. In 1947, he established the Young Funeral Home and is the co-founder of the Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa,KY. He was a member of the 1st Methodist Church."

"The Ground Observer Corp was formed in the mid 1950's because of the cold war and the threat of nuclear war with Russia. A tower was erected on town hill overlooking Louisa and the Corp tracked aircraft. All aircraft that were seen were phoned into a centralized center for the tracking of all aircraft in the United States."
