Reunion of Veterans – Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan
The Mayor of the city of Monroe, Michigan has invited the old soldiers of the war
of 1812 to meet in that city on the fourth of July.
Monroe is on the battle ground of the river Raisin.
There will be no cost to the veterans in going, staying, or returning, as arrangements
have been made to pay the same by the city.
We should be glad to have many of our old Kentucky veterans attend this pleasant reunion.
The graves of three hundred who fell in the “massacre” will be visited; and the bones of many
which have been plowed or dug up and preserved, will be interred with solemn ceremonies.
