LAMBERT & Family in Mercer Co., KY
Surnames: LAMBERT, PETER, SALLEE, VOORHIES, WARD#02219
Amanda Mason <amandamason1972@yahoo.com> Tue, 13 Jun 2000
    Response >>
I am looking for any links to the following families-
Ott Voorhies (aka Voorhis, Voorhees, etc.) married Amanda Lee Lambert (aka Nannie), daughter of John Lambert and Cate Peter. John Lambert was born about 1845, probably in Washington County, Ky. His wife, Cate Peter, was born about 1849 also in Washington County. They married on 2/26/1870 in Washington County, Ky. They had at least one daughter, Amanda Lee Lambert, who was born in Mercer County, KY about 1872. She married 1. Ott (aka Otto) Voorhies on 1/10/1895. Otto's father's name is unknown at this time, but his mom's name was Sallie Voorhies.
Otto and Amanda had at least 6 children, including Ellis, Johnny, Walter, Pearl, Hazel, and Ollie, all whom were born in Washington County, Ky.
Ollie Voorhies was born 12/18/1902 in Washington County, Ky, and was married to James William Lowry in June 1916 in Springfield, Washington County, Ky. Ollie died on July 28, 1919 in Harrodsburg, Mercer, Ky and was buried on July 29, 1919 in Battle Cemetery in Washington County, KY.
Pearl Voorhies was born April 21, 1908 in Washington Co., KY. She married an _______ Ward and had 8 children, including Earl, Vernon, Scott, Otto, Albert, Joyce, Bonnie and Franklin. Pearl had her youngest son in 1940 in Lexinton, KY. Story has it that Mr. Ward deserted family soon after 1940 and left pearl to raise all kids by herself. She moved to Indiana and worked as a cook and housekeeper in Valparasio. She died on 6/26/1998 and is buried in Valparasio.
Hazel married a Gabbert and lived in IN.
Amanda Lee Lambert also married a Joe Sallee after Otto Voorhies died(?)
Otto Voorhies was married first to Matilda Bunch on Feb. 2, 1882 in Washington Co., KY.
Any help on these familes would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thomas and William Mahan
Surnames: MAHAN#02224
Sharon Bryant <sharonbryant@worldnet.att.net> Fri, 16 Jun 2000
I'm looking for information on the Mahans--Thomas and William, sons of Patrick and Isabella Mahan, survivors of the Martin's Station attacks in 1780.

William and Thomas were both returned to Kentucky in 1782. William is said to have died about a year after returning to Kentucky at Wilson's Station in Mercer County (Interview with his sister, Mrs. Wilson of Woodford Co. KY in 1841) and Thomas is said to have lived in the same place as William.

A comment was made regarding a journal that William had kept and which Mrs. Wilson suspected might have ended up in the hands of Thomas. She also stated that in 1841 Thomas' widow and family were living in Missouri.

Does anyone have any information regarding the Mahan families?

Thanks,

Sharon Bryant

I am looking for the parents and/or siblings of Walter C. Stone,2. W.C. was born 5 June 1810 in Mercer Co.,Ky. He married Elizabeth Cranfill 18 May 1854 in Anderson Co. Most of their children were born in Anderson Co., Ky. They are Thomas, Francis M., Joesphine, Charles H., Rodger H., and Betty Elizabeth Stone. Their other children were born in Indiana and Mo. They migrated to Wickes, Polk Co. Arkansas where Walter C. and Elizabeth with two of their children are buried in the Daniel's Cementery. Walter C. Stone,2 is my brick wall. My cousin and I can not seem to get around Walter C. Stone,2. It seems that he appears all the sudden out of no where and starts a family.

Here is the Smock information out of my early wills and estates book.

James Smock was a witness for the will of David Brewer dated 7/19/1819. Information located Will Book 6, pg. 214, recorded on Aug. 1819.

The will of Jacob Smock 3/3/1815, is recorded in Will Book 5, pg. 204, recorded July 1815. It lists his son John, daughters Elizabeth, Polly, Anny and Nancy. It was witnessed by Abraham Smock.

While this is not the info that your currently seeking, this may help somewhat.

Identity of Anna Noel's Husband
Surnames: NOEL#02234
Max Noel <maxnkit@presence.cnchost.com> Wed, 21 Jun 2000
I am attempting to determine the name of my Great Grandfather's father. I believe that my ggrandfather(James Edward Noel DOB 6/11/1830) left Mercer County sometime between 1838 and 1843 along with his father(identity unknown, his mother Anna Noel (DOB 2/22/1807), and his brother Horace. They migrated to Benton County Missouri. I cannot locate them in the 1840 census, but they are living in Benton County Missouri for the 1850 census and Anna is shown as the head of the household. No mention of a father. Additional children, William, Mary and Anna are shown as part of the family, all having been born in Missouri. Anna and James Edward are buried in the Noel family cemetery in Benton County Missouri. There is an old headstone in the cemetery merely maked with the initials F.A.N. Any help would be appreciated.

Searching for my grandfather, Clarence Mason, married Lillie Johnson sometime after 1900 census. Lillie was single in 1900, living at home with her father, Anthony and her brother, William (Willie?). Anthony was a widower; his wife, Mary Jane Hartman, had died sometime after 1880 census. I have no other information about Clarence Mason. Lillie is listed as widow in 1910, with 2 children, Lorenzo (my father) and Geneva. Her father, Anthony Johnson, also with her. No record of any death except Lillie's (1934 in Harrodsburg)found . My father, Lorenzo, died 1940, buried in Harrodsburg. Geneva not heard from since I was a child. She may have married twice. Don't know any married name or if she was married in 1940 when her brother died. If alive, she would be about 95. Help with info about Clarence Mason or Geneva (nee) Mason PLEASE. All of these people were born in Mercer County, except I don't know about Clarence. Census records show that he was born in Kentucky.
