ALMIRA WALDRIDGE
Surnames: WALDRIDGE#02464
Darlene Amos <jdmhamos1@msn.com> Mon, 11 Sep 2000
I am searching for any information regarding Almira Waldridge. She is listed in the 1860 Mercer County census at Pleasant Hill (listed as Almire Wooldridge). In the 1870 census she is listed as a Domestic Servant for the Bonta or Banta family (spelled Almira Waldridge in 1870). She was born in Garrard County and listed living with Dr. Eagon in 1850. It appears her parents died prior to 1850. She was born in the 1830s. It appears she had a brother named Robert and maybe one named John, and a sister named Elizabeth (1850 census).

Would love to find the names of the parents for Almira and her siblings. Also, any information on a possible marriage for Almira. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Searching for parents of William Ambrose Brown who was married 1786 Stafford County,VA to Mary Grigsby Traverse. William was probably born in Culpeper County, VA and lived there until he moved to Mercer County, KY where he died August 23,1832. He claimed he fought in Revolutionary War but his pension was turned down.

Reynard Chastain Sallee & Mary Horn are also my ancestors, via their son Phillip Horn Sallee. I do not have proof of Reynard's parents. I don't know of any bible records, deeds or other papers to confirm his ancestors. I do know that he served in the war of 1812. There is a document where he was killed by his cousin, I believe Michael Horn. The killer was aquitted because "the devil made me do it".

Patty -- Here is something to get you oriented with regard to Reynard Sallee. He is the great-grandson of Abraham Sallé and Olive Olympia Perrault. You can get the generations preceding Reynard, or "Raney" as we call him, from my ancestor page, URL below.

Plenty there on the Peavlers as well. If you want to be serious about Sallee genealogy, though, you'll need to get your own copy of Jack Bailey's "Family of the French Huguenot Abraham Sallé and his descendants (1992)". Jack Bailey, the compiler of the book, sells it for $40 and it has more than you'll probably want to know on the family -- if not (and I hope not), Jack also released about 3 weeks ago a Sallee "Companion Book" that he is selling for $55. A truly great addition. You can reach Jack by mail at 527 Scenic Hill Dr., Harrodsburg KY 40330, or by phone at (859) 734-7174.

I'd recommend also subscribing to the Sallee Family and Peavler Family online maillists. You just send an e-mail to SALLEE-L-Request@rootsweb.com , leaving the Subject line blank and putting subscribe in the message area, and sending it. You can do the same for the Peavler list by substituting "Peavler" for "Sallee" -- or you can let me know, and I'll personally sign you up for either or both lists as you prefer.

At your convenience, I'd appreciate your line down from Anderson and Catharine. (I descend from Raney's brother John and wife Mary Clark three different ways.) Even better would be a listing of all of Anderson and Catherine's descendants. Thanks, and now for the FGS on Raney's parents:

Mercer Co. KY Records, Kentucky Record Series, Family History Library call number 976.9485, P28c, V.2, p. 293 shows a marriage bond between Daniel Conder and Elizabeth Whittinghill, 30 Jul 1832. I have not found record of the marriage itself. The bond was signed by Daniel Conder and David Whittinghill. Permission to marry given by the bride's mother, Elizabeth Gabhart. An Elizabeth Whittinghill had married Henry Gabbert or Gabhart on 5 Oct 1816, according to the same volume, p. 431. I have assumed it this Elizabeth was the mother mentioned in the above permission. I also have a Nancy Whittinghill listed as a sister to Elizabeth, but I failed to cite the source, and I have no idea if that information is accurate.

I believe that Daniel Conder and Elizabeth Whittinghill were my 3rd great grandparents. I would love to learn more about this line from you.

I'm not sure it's right, but I have George Whittinghill(born in Holland) marrying Mary Gabhart (born in Scotland. They had a son, Robertson Whittinghill born 14 Jun 1814 in Mercer County KY.

I would guess that my Whittinghill and Gabhart are a brother and sister of yours. See what I mean about them marrying each others brothers or sisters?

So, I'm not much help to you, except to give you clues to siblings and locations of origin. Good luck! Rain.
