Mercer County Wheats: I am searching for my mothers family. My grandfather was Frank Wheat DOB: 8/24/1902. I seem to remember that he was from Oklahoma and came to California back when. I met my great grandfather once and was told he was full blood indian. Would you have any mention of a Frank Wheat in any of your Wheat material. Have been searching for this side of my family for a while and just seem to find blanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at e-mail:

Are there any ARMSTRONGs among your CHINN relatives? My 2nd gr. grandfather Abram ARMSTRONG married Emily DEER in Lincoln Co., KY in 1837 and lived in Mercer Co., KY before going to IN. A relative who witnessed the marriage was Lester CHINN ARMSTRONG. Perhaps Lester's mother was a CHINN???

*** ANNOUNCEMENT *** 1850 Census now SEARCHABLE!
Surnames: #02630
Pam <kymercer@roadrunner.com> Thu, 09 Nov 2000
Homepage: 1850 Census, Mercer Co., KY
The 1850 census (what I have done of it [g]) has been online at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kymercer/census/1850/

It has been indexed, but only by heads of household, and then when you visit their page, you can either see the entire census page (including their family), or browse from census page to census page from there. That's good. I love to browse census records.

Now, though, the shortcoming of the above method has been done away with. Now there's a NEW option ... an "every name" search.

With this new search, those of you who only knew that John Q. Public was born about 1846, but have no clue who his parents are, can find him listed ... age 4, and when you see his record, you'll be given the entire household, including parents or guardians ... whatever. You no longer need to know in advance who his parents were, nor do you need to check every household for that surname, hoping to find your known ancestor as a child.

Where is it? Same place where you begin your browse ....

Happy Hunting!

I do not know what happened to John G. Claunch, but I am thinking that maybe he could be the father to my greatgrandfather William G.(Green)"Dee"Claunch....the G. seems to be a family thing, as William was "green" his grand son was Joseph Green....I would not swear to it..
William was married to my greatgrandmother Margaret Jane Semonis....they were all from and are buried there in Mercer County. I looked in my cemetery books and did not find a John with a 1810 date....
as always
