Re:Mercer County I am a descendant of the Hourigans, one of whom was your grandmother Nancy M. called Cousin Margaret by all of my family. She was a first cousin of my grandfather, Fred B. Hourigan of Marion county. I believe her father was Rufus Hourigan. I remember meeting him as a child and he was ANCIENT! As I remember, Cousin Margaret had two children, Hugh Benton and Almeda, named after her mother who apparently died when Margaret was a baby. I remember hearing a strange story about how John Benton Hale died, at least as the time though it was strange. Do your know the story? Whose offspring are you? I love to hear from my Hourigan cousins wherever they might be.

I have Carey A. Crane ancestors and am willing to share. I have only three children (sons) listed for him and am looking to determine his descendants. I have him born ca1847 in Mercer Co, Kentucky and married to Betsy Hall. He descends from Aaron Crane as I do. Incidentally who knows where the Carpenter Family Cemetery is located in that area of Kentucky where Boyle, Washington, and Mercer Counties adjoin.

I have some info. on Henry, son of Christian. The Henry C. Canary (b.abt.1830), that I am looking for is the son of Benjamin. I think they lived in Washington and Mercer Co.ies in Ky. in the late 1700 early 1800's. I am trying to find: #1. Marriage date and place for Christian (b.187?), and Benjamin Canary (b.1808?). #2. Birth place and date for both. #3. The first and (birth) name for Benjamin's first, second, and maybe third wife. #4. Names of children for each wife. #5. The name and birth place for the parents of Christian Canary. #6. The name of Henry C. Canarys wife.

I have a little information regarding a Canary who may or may not be of interest to you. Maiden name: Mary Estelle Canary Born: May 27, 1891 Died: April 11, 1929 Married to: Thomas Jefferson Van Arsdale on June 15, 1915 in Cincinnati. I beleive that Mary Estelle Canary was born in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky, and for a short period may have resided in Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky. She gave birth to one daughter and four sons. Mary Estelle died in Cincinnati and is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in the same city.

Seeking information on Prudence Bailie b. 23 Dec. 1786 Kilcoo, Down Co. Ireland married Samuel W. Carnahan abt.1805 She came to to America 1806-1808?Went to Washington Co. Va then removed to Mercer Co. Ky. Cannot find anything on her descendants, is there any one out there that is a descendant of her and if so would you please share any information on this family line.

My Carey Crane Was born in 1787 in Mercer County,and married Betsy Hall on 4 Aug 1814 in Mercer County. He was the son of Thomas Crane and Ann Lee. Thomas had a brother named Aaron.Thomas and Aaron were the children of of James and Susannah Craine. The Carpenter Cemetery is located 3 miles west of Perryville . Turn South on to Short Line Road from US 150. It is also known as the Crane-Critchfield Cemetery

I understand, from persons familiar with the Carpenter Cemetery, that it is located somewhat north of Perryville, Kentucky. The Crane/Critchfield cemetery sounds as though it is located somewhat west of Perryville ... perhaps in the vicinity of Craintown. Does anyone know where to find a list of those buried in Crane/Critchfield.

Does anyone have the cemetery records for the cemetery in Burgin or can you direct me to who I could contact? I know that my grandfather and grandmother John W. PRESTON & America Jane BROUGHTON PRESTON LEONARD are both buried there along with some other PRESTON's. I have a copy of the listings for Burgin Cemetery, and the Preston's read as follows: John David Preston - June 22, 1938-May 14, 1955 William Preston - 1852-1922 Preston - wife of William - 1857-1925 That is all the Preston's that are listed in the Mercer County and area Cemeteries Book -Volume IV. My great aunt was Martha (Mattie Webb Preston) who was married to my great uncle Herman Preston. They had a son by the name of Jimmy Preston and daughter Laura Belle Preston. They lived in Burgin, but are now deceased. Hope this helps.

I have Benjamin b. 1808 in Washington Co., KY. I have 2 wives as Frances A. and Mary J. I have no info on any kids. He migrated between 1820-1830 to Indiana. Also there is a black male Benjamin Canary in the 1880 Washington Co., KY census, age 55. If this is a son of Benjamin b. 1808 he would have fathered him at age 16 or 17. I have absolutely nothing on Henry son of Christian b. 1769. All I have is his name. What do you have?

Hi Judy, I do not know of a Joseph as brother to Elisha, although I do know he had several brothers, names unknown. Check Gower, Clinton Co., MO. (and I will check further in my info when I can) Although they were from Mercer Co., KY originally, I know James and Susan (Elisha's parents) migrated through Indiana and ended up in MO. I do show a Joseph in another Barnes line that I found on the net, but I think he was a generation or two before Elisha. Good Luck - let me know if you have any other questions or find anything.
