The Vandivers of Lincoln Co are not related to the Mercer Co Vandiviers. The Lincoln Co Vandivers I know of are from the Michael Vandervoort line whose surname transposed into Vandiver. They arrived about mid 1800 in Lincoln Co and Casey Co Kentucky. I do not have a Southerland in my data base; but I do have some Mary Vandiver(s) listed from Lincoln Co.

Seeking information on Milton Busby, shown on the 1850 Mercer Co, KY census as Melton Bushby. This is a typo on the part of the census taker because all of the names of the members listed in that household, Mathilda Banks, daughter Margaret, and Edward are the same as mine and all the dates fit. Milton was married to Marinda Graves in 1834 in Casey County KY and she supposedly died before 1850. Possible she is buried in Mercer county. Are death certificates available for Mercer county before 1850? Would anyone know how to request one? How would I go about requesting Mercer Co tax or deed information about Milton? Any help appreciated.

That is how I have it listed also other than the variation of surname spelling. Spelling during this period was well, liberal to say the least. I found two-three spelling variations in a single family several times on the Vandiver side. I have been told that there are 67 variations to the Vandiver name.

Wilson - 1978 death facts

I live in Ohio and am looking for newspaper articles about my fathers death(Leonard Lee Wilson b. Dec 25, 1936). I will eventually get to Harrodsburg if I cant find help but I am hoping to find someone who regularly visits the library there. I never met my father and he was killed on Dec 1, 1978 in Harrodsburg when I was 8 yrs old. His death certificate lists his death as a homicide and it was a gunshot wound to the head. I would like any articles about my father's death. I have heard several conflicting stories as to the circumstances. If anyone goes to the library or knows who I can contact for info, please e-mail me. I am willing to pay for all copies and postage up front. Thanks You, Kristi

Just found informations on my grgrandfather William Bugg age 10(born Ky) is listed in the 1850 Mercer Co., Ky. Census District 2 Page 356 with his mother Martha Bugg (born Va.). Also in this hh is a Mary Hudson, age 50 (born Va.) William is next listed in Montgomery Co., In. 1860 census, but Martha Bugg & Mary Hudson arn't there. Does anyone have any information on this family - Wm. father and/or death of his mother? Anything greatly appreciated.

Isaac Covert was born March 1, 1775 in Somerset, New Jersey; d. September 14, 1825 in Mercer County, Kentucky. Parents were Johannes Covert/Martha (last name unkown). Isaac/Antie were married March 2, 1779 in New Jersey. The children all moved to Johnson County Indiana. Antie moved there upon Issac's death. I have only 8 children listed: Lammetie, b. July 2 1780; d. August 25, 1865, m. Peter Lagrange John, b. September 1, 1782; in Pennsylvania; d April 4 in Indiana; m Theodocia Voris, Catherine Ver Bryke and Rachel. Marta; b. June 3, 1783; d. The Richard and Mary names seem to be the right ones on the census of 1850 in Mercer County. It looks as tho' this young couple's first 2 children were Salina and Sarah. But the Sarah Trisler, age 11, listed with them is the daughter of David Trisler and Lydia Hoover Rohrer. Sarah had 2 brothers also listed in that year census with other families. Milton Trisler, age 12, with Napoleon Hudson family and George Trisler, age 14 with Nathaneil Burris family. Have been unable to determine why they were put into these homes, since they were not bound out. Nor do I know how long they were there. Information on these children would certainly be appreciated. My grandfather is Joseph C (Jim) Stopher born in1887 and died in Louisville, Ky in 1945. I know he had a brother named William Alexander Stopher. I do not know what his fathers name is. On Jim's birth certificate, it had Mose Stopher as the father and Lillie Harbaugh as the mother. I was also told that his fathers name could be William. I am told that William or Mose came from Harrodsburg, KY. If any one has any information on this family, I would appreciate it if they would contact me. Thank you. This is very interesting. This is a perfect example of families "intermarrying" and I have several of these names you mentioned in my database. I am a direct descendant of William LUCAS and have a marriage record that he married a widow, Catherine DARLING in Mercer County, Kentucky. Am I correct that her name was DORLANDT? I'm looking for information on my great great grandfather Foster Christerson (1884-1954)and his descendents. My mother, Reatha McFarland was named after her grandmother Reatha Christerson. I was also like infomation on my Figg ties to Mercer County. My grandmother was Opal Figg, daughter of Reatha Christerson. My father thinks her husband's name was Jimmy Figg. Where did Mary Carey and Andrew Fenimore go? Thanks.
