Ruff Surnames: DUVAL, LOAN, RUFF, TARLTON #12873 mary Ann Shoemaker <maryshoe@cox.rr.com> Mon, 23 Apr 2001 Hello, Is any one researching surnames of Ruff, Duval, Loan or Tarlton in Mercer Co.
I have an account in Nelson Co. Ky in 1815 where Mrs. Shehan paid a bill from Mercer Co., for $40 to Richard Ruff, which included 9 weeks board, 20 day of boarding and nursing, coffin, one sheet, and digging of a grave.Whoever this person was he/she apparently died in Mercer Co.
@ 1815. The bill is dated Sept 9th 1815.Most interesting and am unable to "fit" a relative of my Shehan family of Ky in this spot.
Possibility is the mother of Mrs.Shehan ( Mary Duval Shehan)
The mother was Anarpy (Anna Rosella Philomenia Tarlton Duval Loan.Odd request but.. if anyone knows of any of these surnames in Mercer Co. in the early 1800s I would appreciate discussing such.
Thanks.

I lost your address. Saw your queri here. What a small world if you are related to my Goin/Hunter line and my Garr line too.I have some Garr/Gaar relation in KY. Not sure if they were in Mercer Co. or not. I found them after they moved to Hendricks Co., Indiana.
Solomon Garr married Martha Chelf in 1817 in Madison Co. VA. Their daughter, Lovina Finks Garr marr. William Shepherd Tout. This is my direct line. Anything sound familiar here?My Josiah Smith line also comes from KY. but, again, I don't know what County. Josiah Smith's dau Elzira married Isaac Proctor Goin.
I've been trying to find out if my sister's first husband was related to your Hunters. I found out there is a Hunter genealogy on their family and will see if I can make a connection. I think my nephew has a copy.

Polly McKee McMurtry Surnames: MCKEE, MCMURTRY #12895 David R. Hoffman <traugott@epix.net> Fri, 04 May 2001 << Previous in Thread I descend from Samuel McKee who died in Fayette County, KY, in 1813. Samuel had sons William (died 1807), James (I have not been able to trace him forward), David (1767-1844, my great-great grandfather), Archibald (died 1849), and John (died 1814); and daughters Jane, Elizabeth, and Polly. I've not been able to trace Polly's line; I think it possible she was the Mary McKee who was admitted to Sacrament of the Lord's Supper for the first time at Walnut Hill Church, near Lexington, KY, in 1792. The McKees moved from Augusta County, VA, to Fayette County, KY, some time between mid-1780s and 1790. David, William, and James all purchased land in Harrison County, KY, in 1800. Archibald remained in Fayette County. Jane married John Story, a Rev War veteran. John died childless in Fayette County. Elizabeth married George Hunter in Fayette County, but I've not been able to trace that line forward.
John Wallace McKee, David's youngest son, married Eliza McMurtry in Harrison County in 1836 and moved to Missouri. Eliza's brother William was one of David's executors, and another brother, James either moved with Eliza and John Wallace McKee to Missouri or followed them, as he died in their home at Cap au Gris in 1839.
I'd be glad to swap notes with you if you think there is a connection. I've not pursued the Polly McKee who married in Mercer County because I'd assumed that Samuel's daughter would have married in Fayette County. Would be glad if you could prove me wrong.
