Connie Allen <callen440@aol.com> Thu, 12 Apr 2001
Hi!

I am seeking info on John Bigler/Beegler/Beigler and his wife, Agnes/Aggy/Agatha Fisher. Aggy was born 21 March 1776 in Culpepper Co., Va. to Stephen Fisher, Sr. and his wife, Mary Magdalene Garr. The family moved to Ky c1778. Stephen built Fisher's Station. Aggy joined the Shawnee Run Baptist Church in 1801. John Bigler appears on the 1810 Census for Mercer Co. Then I lose them. Any inof on these families would be appreciated! Also, does any one know where Fisher's Station was located?

Thanks!

Ruff
Surnames: DUVAL, LOAN, RUFF, TARLTON#12873
mary Ann Shoemaker <maryshoe@cox.rr.com> Mon, 23 Apr 2001
Hello, Is any one researching surnames of Ruff, Duval, Loan or Tarlton in Mercer Co.
I have an account in Nelson Co. Ky in 1815 where Mrs. Shehan paid a bill from Mercer Co., for $40 to Richard Ruff, which included 9 weeks board, 20 day of boarding and nursing, coffin, one sheet, and digging of a grave.

Whoever this person was he/she apparently died in Mercer Co.
@ 1815. The bill is dated Sept 9th 1815.

Most interesting and am unable to "fit" a relative of my Shehan family of Ky in this spot.
Possibility is the mother of Mrs.Shehan ( Mary Duval Shehan)
The mother was Anarpy (Anna Rosella Philomenia Tarlton Duval Loan.

Odd request but.. if anyone knows of any of these surnames in Mercer Co. in the early 1800s I would appreciate discussing such.
Thanks.
Mary ann

Does anyone have a copy of the "Stray Book & Tax Records 1786-1806" that is sold by the Harrodsburg Historical Society? Would you be willing to look up a few names? I'm willing to buy the book, but I would rather buy it after I know whether my ancestors are in it first.

The people I'm looking for are:
Henry Vandiver b. abt 1780 in Mercer County, KY
Henry Whitenack b. abt 1780, d. in Mercer County, KY (son Stephen b. abt 1800 in Mercer Co., KY)
Andrew Whitenack b. abt 1760 (father of Henry)

I would be interested in any other Whitenack or Vandiver names from this time period and location as well.

Thank you very much.
Katie

My great..... grandfather was Nathan Lynn(Linn). Nathan was the son of Andrew Lynn(Linn). Nathan was killed by Indians (Shawnee?) at MaAfee Station on May 9th, 1781 just four days after his brother William Lynn(Linn) was killed. Nathan was married to Hannah Hynes. I will be visiting McAfee, Kentucky in a couple of weeks and am wondering if there is a site I can visit where Nathan was killed or a road marker indicating the site of the battle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bob.

I am looking for the parents of William Semonis, born abt 1823, who married Susan Leonard in Boyle Co in 1844. They are listed in the 1850 Mercer Co census with daughters, Martha, Sarah & Nancy. In the 1860 Mercer Co census, Nancy is listed in the household of William Powell. Susan is shown living in Shakertown. I assume William died before 1860. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Cary,
I lost your address. Saw your queri here. What a small world if you are related to my Goin/Hunter line and my Garr line too.

I have some Garr/Gaar relation in KY. Not sure if they were in Mercer Co. or not. I found them after they moved to Hendricks Co., Indiana.
Solomon Garr married Martha Chelf in 1817 in Madison Co. VA. Their daughter, Lovina Finks Garr marr. William Shepherd Tout. This is my direct line. Anything sound familiar here?

My Josiah Smith line also comes from KY. but, again, I don't know what County. Josiah Smith's dau Elzira married Isaac Proctor Goin.

I've been trying to find out if my sister's first husband was related to your Hunters. I found out there is a Hunter genealogy on their family and will see if I can make a connection. I think my nephew has a copy.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your reply. It came Friday and I just got in to read it! I received info that John Booher was mentioned in Mercer Co. Ky, that is all I had! I have no idea whether he is my family or not! I would like to hear from any Booher kin in that area to see if we can tie in. My John would only have been 7 yrs. old in 1824, but this might have been his father.
If there is anyone who can check on this family, I would appreciate it. Thanks again Scarlett

This may be a shot in the dark but I know of A Joseph (Jake) Bluford Nooe. He was also referred to as "Uncle Blufe". The man I write of was born Feb. 27, 1834, and die on Aug. 27, 1926. His wife's name was Bell. The Joseph I write of was the brother of my great grandmother, Mary Helen Vanarsdall (nee Nooe), Joseph B., Bell and Mary Helen Nooe are all buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

Hope the above may be of some help.

Polly McKee McMurtry
Surnames: MCKEE, MCMURTRY#12895
David R. Hoffman <traugott@epix.net> Fri, 04 May 2001
 << Previous in Thread
I descend from Samuel McKee who died in Fayette County, KY, in 1813. Samuel had sons William (died 1807), James (I have not been able to trace him forward), David (1767-1844, my great-great grandfather), Archibald (died 1849), and John (died 1814); and daughters Jane, Elizabeth, and Polly. I've not been able to trace Polly's line; I think it possible she was the Mary McKee who was admitted to Sacrament of the Lord's Supper for the first time at Walnut Hill Church, near Lexington, KY, in 1792. The McKees moved from Augusta County, VA, to Fayette County, KY, some time between mid-1780s and 1790.

David, William, and James all purchased land in Harrison County, KY, in 1800. Archibald remained in Fayette County. Jane married John Story, a Rev War veteran. John died childless in Fayette County. Elizabeth married George Hunter in Fayette County, but I've not been able to trace that line forward.

John Wallace McKee, David's youngest son, married Eliza McMurtry in Harrison County in 1836 and moved to Missouri. Eliza's brother William was one of David's executors, and another brother, James either moved with Eliza and John Wallace McKee to Missouri or followed them, as he died in their home at Cap au Gris in 1839.

I'd be glad to swap notes with you if you think there is a connection. I've not pursued the Polly McKee who married in Mercer County because I'd assumed that Samuel's daughter would have married in Fayette County. Would be glad if you could prove me wrong.
