COLLIER, Earl D. 1904-1982 Surnames: COLLIER #00155 PC Mon, 20 Jul 1998 Obit from the Harrodsburg Herald; 28 Oct 1982: Earl D. Collier Sr., 78, of Harrodsburg Route 6 died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 2, 1904 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Demetris and Maggie Carey Collier. He was a Baptist, a retired farmer and a former state emplooyee. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Collier and a stepdaughter, Christine Moore.
Survivors include four sons, Garnett and Earl D. Collier Jr., both of Mercer County, Carlos Collier of Perryville and Richard Denzil Collier of Lancaster; a brother, Morris Collier of Nicholasville; three sisters, Leona Smith of Salvisa, May Davis of Harrodsburg and Valley Egbert of Mercer County; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Collier were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. The Rev. Chuck Bass officiated and burial was in the Williams Cemetery at Dixville.
Mr. Collier's grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Carlos Collier Jr., Gordon Wayne, Paul and James Collier, Ronnie and Michael Moore.

She was a retired dietitian at the former Christian Church Children's Home, now Woodlawn Children's Campus. She was a member of First Christian Church where she attended over 84 years and was a member of Allen Hart Sunday School class and Vogt Circle.
Survivors include a daughter; Bettie Mattingly of Louisville; a son, Raymond Kirkland of Danville; a sister, Helen Reynolds of Lexington; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Norman Hagley. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Mattingly, Brian Edwards, Michael and John Higson, Ronnie Rousey and Charles Mattingly.

Born Aug. 1, 1907, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Eliza Jane Lambert Ross. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ in the Battle community, Washington County, and the Mercer County Senior Citizens. She was the widow of John Delbert Young.
Survivors include one son, William O. Young of Greencastle, Ind.; three daughters, Thelma Young Hallar and Darlene Coulter Rogers, both of Harrodsburg, and Jewel Young Hardin of Springfield; one sister, Anna Belle Beavers of Mackville; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Donald Gene Votaw and Gary Baker. Burial will be in Willisburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. until time of the service Monday.

Born April 10, 1919, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Ida Mae Adkinson Gaines. He was a bartender and custodian at Wendell's Tavern in Louisville for 30 years, a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include Hallie Gaines; two sons, Thomas C. Gaines III and Kenneth Gaines, both of Louisville; two daughters, Gracie L. Smith of Stanford and Alice M. DuPont of Riverside, Ohio; two sisters, Louise May of Perryville and Mattie Powell of Harrodsburg; 10 stepchildren, 11 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Survivors include two daughters, Danna Lynn Lowe of North Miami, and Carla Fuchs of Naperville, Ill.; a brother, James Lloyd Tewmey of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Bessie T. Talliaferro of Homosasso, Fla., and Daisy T. Freeman of Cedar Key, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Lewis died Wednesday at her residence.
Born Oct. 5, 1928, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Allen and Mattie Phillips. She was a homemaker, member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, and the widow of Marshall Lewis. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dale Lewis.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Miller and Dorothy Lewis, both of Mercer County; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 16, 1934, in Washington County, he was the son of Alleen Sanders Warner Gabbert of Cornishville and the late Marvin Warner.
He was retired from the Fayette County Board of Education where he had been custodian at Julius Marks Elementary. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, had attended Western Kentucky University, and was a member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and American Legion Post 8. An avid fisherman, he belonged to Ellerslie Fishing Club No. 4.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Doris Haydon Warner; two daughters, Sharon Garrity and Penny Gilpin, both of Lexington; a brother, Jim Warner of Bloomfield; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Willisburg.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today and after 7 p.m. Monday.

Born June 27, 1934, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Fred Curry Leonard and Alma Louise Rosche Leonard Burton. He was a retired auto dealer and owned and operated Stone Manor Restaurant for 18 years. He was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 777, F&AM, Oleika Shrine Temple and Fort Harrod Drama Board, of which he was president. He was a director for 15 years of the Kentucky Restaurant Association. He served in the Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jo Young Leonard; two daughters, Tammy Simpson and Scottie Alford, both of Harrodsburg; a sister, Betty Jo Tyler of Wadesville, Ind.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Edwin Freeman and the Rev. Rick Snyder. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Danville Advocate-Messenger July 27, 1997HARRODSBURG - Services for Paul Creel Mahan, 81, of Mackville Road, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Mark Girard. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Saturday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1915, in Dewey, Okla., he was a son of the late Clifford and Lillie B. Collins Mahan, he was a retired cabinet maker, a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 777 F&AM, Oleika Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star 309, Royal Arch Masons, Commandry 17 and was a life member of Nation Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy B. Horn Mahan.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Sims Jr., Armond Bottom, Stanley C. Watts, Jim Laswell, Gene Lawson and Jeff Blankenship.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

TYLER, Edwin 1950-1997 Surnames: TYLER #00175 PC Mon, 10 Aug 1998 HARRODSBURG - Edwin Tyler, 47, of 2577 Talmage-Mayo Road, Salvisa, died Friday at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
Born June 20, 1950, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late J.L. and Anna Pearl Downey Tyler. He was a maintenance worker with the Mercer County school system and a member of Benton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Talbott Tyler; two daughters, Tammy Tyler of Nicholasville and Annette Tyler of Junction City; three stepdaughters, Pam Lear of Lancaster and Tina Broughton and Kim Broughton, both of Mercer County; three sisters, Linda Readnower, Alice Sherrow and Barbara Haggard, all of Harrodsburg; one grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by Barry Jeffries. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Barnett, Chad Barnett, Daniel Lynn Readnower, Kelly Bugg, Roy Bugg, Bruce Catlett, George Walker and Charlie Raley.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Monday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

She died Sunday at Columbia Hospital, Frankfort.
Born Oct. 18, 1895, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late George and Dessie Norton Springate. She was the widow of Virgil Taylor, the oldest member of Hopewell Baptist Church, and was a member of the Young at Heart Group, choir and Powell Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sisters, Georgia and Carrie Springate, both of Mercer County.
Pallbearers will be Granville Lovings, J.H. Whiteneck, Richard Green, Mac Compton, Elton Johnson and Charles Ashford.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Powell Sunday School Class.

Born Jan 6, 1960, in Euclid, Ohio, he was a son of Michael and Shirley Vah of Harrodsburg. He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and was a member of the track team. He was an Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Merkel, Texas, and St. Andrew Catholic Church, Harrodsburg.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Cassidy and Carrington Vah, both of Burgin, and Chanel Vah of Harrodsburg; a brother, Michael Vah Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Deborah Handy of Lexington and Kimberly Rider of Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Laura Barker of Ashtabula, Ohio; paternal grandmother, Anne Vah of Columbia, S.C.

Born April 10, 1947, in Mercer County, he was a son of Russell Curtsinger of Harrodsburg and the late Ann Browning Curtsinger.
He was a machine-tool designer for Senco Products and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He served with Navy in the Vietnam War. A son, Scott T. Curtsinger, predeceased him.
Additional survivors include his wife, Patricia Eldridge Curtsinger; two sons, Bradley Clark and Clay Browning Curtsinger, both of Newport; a stepmother, Nancy Curtsinger of Harrodsburg; a brother, Bill Curtsinger of Danville; and four sisters, Ruth Thompson of Owensboro, and Linda Mattingly, Connie Patrick and Vickie Tewmey, all of Harrodsburg.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe Meunch. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.
