ALFORD/JENKINS Surnames: ALFORD, JENKINS #00516 Lynn D. Shelley AAFA VP <103234.3512@compuserve.com> Fri, 12 Jun 1998 << Previous in Thread Response >> Joyce, I wrote you earlier about your query. This is the information that the Alford American Family Association has for Martha Alford--born March 17, 1789 in Mercer Co. KY; married David Jenkins, Dec. 1, 1807, Garrard Co. KY. The only child we have record of is Martha Jenkins and we have that she was born 1820 and that she married her first cousin Charles W. Alford (1815-1854), Oct 14, 1840, in Garrard Co. KY. If you have conflicting information, I would be happy to compare what we have and try to resolve this. Perhaps we have the wrong Martha Jenkins. Please contact me so we can work together to sort out this problem. Top | Surname Index | Researchers Page | 'Every Word' Search | Archived Data | Home

ALFORD/JENKINS Surnames: ALFORD, JENKINS #00520 Joyce Underwood <ernestu@mis.net> Mon, 15 Jun 1998 << Previous in Thread Response >> Response >> I have been to the Mercer Co. Ky. Liberary to search for information needed to correct either my info or yours. I have come across two Martha Jenkins and I will need to visit the Garrard County Courthouse to establish witch Martha belongs to the Alford family. My Martha Jenkins married Elisha Dennis December 28, 1847 in Garrard Co. Ky. He was born about 1827 and Martha was born about 1826. Elisha Dennis died April 30, 1875. Joseph Cheatham gave oath of age and was Bondsman at the wedding.
Garrard Co. Ky. has listed Charles W. Alford married Martha Jenkins Oct. 14, 1840. Albert Jenkins was bondsman and Martha Jenkins C U gave consent .
I will get back to you as soon as I can prove which Martha was the daughter of David Jenkins and Patsy Alford. I have Patsy the daughter of Peaton and Nancy Alford.

Nancy was her mother but gave consent for the marriage since her father was deceased (Jacob Alford died 1803). Payton was the bondsman. I sent you a message via your e-mail address earlier. Will try to find it and resend. This family lived in first Mercer, then Garrard when it was formed and later branched out into Lincoln, Washington, and Fayette Counties.
I do have more information on the Martha who married Charles Alford, whichever one she proves to be. I look forward to having additional information and am very happy you are in a location where on-site research is possible.

Bondsman: Robert AtkinsThere is a very strong bond between the Graves, Lawson, and Atkerson/Atkinson families that goes all the way back to Charlotte Co., Va. in the 1770-1790's, although I'm not aware of the connection with Hart and any of these families (doesn't mean there's no connection ... just that I haven't stumbled across it yet). Also, I don't have Mary/Polly and Tyre Lawson ..... perhaps because they moved to Tn?
McMinn Co., Tenn is where I believe that the wife of Nathan Lawson Jr. died. This wife was Christian High. This is a fascinating piece of new information! I'd be interested in knowing who Tyre's parents were.

Pinkston <haldon27@aol.com> Sat, 20 Jun 1998 Response >> I am descended from these families and am interested in any information I can get on them. Right now I am trying to find information on my great grandmother. Her name was Mary Elizabeth Jenkins. She was born August 27, 1840 and died June 24, 1898. She married Ludwell C. Pinkston in Mercer County, Ky. in 1859. I believe her father's name was Walter, but that is all that I know about the Jenkins side of the family. In my search I have run into the name of George W. Jenkins, but donot know if there is any connection. She had two sisters that I know of; they were Henrietta and Asa Duncan. I do not know if the Duncan part of her name was a middle name of possibly a married name. TRISLER Surnames: TRISLER #00552 Tina Gilbert <wgilb10676@aol.com> Thu, 25 Jun 1998 I am searching for a death record in Mercer County for Lydia/Levina Trisler sometime after 1840. She was the wife of David Trisler at the time of her death..
(Perhaps a divorce record would fill in my blank). Do not know if she was actually deceased, but believe that to be the case, since her their three children were put into seperate homes as found in the 1850 Census of Mercer Cty. The records could be found under Hoover or Rhorer.
She was Lydia Hoover and m: David Rhorer, after his death she married David Trisler. Since she is the mother of my g-gfather David Trisler, I would very much like to know what happened to her.
Thanks for any help.
