Thornburgh/Monical/Harbison
Surnames: HARBISON, MONICAL, THORNBURGH#00689
Cathi Stephens <artcathistep@earthlink.net> Mon, 24 Aug 1998
Researching Benjamin THORNBURGH born Sept. 25, 1797 near Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., KY. Was his father Amos Thornburgh? Interested in all persons with any Thornburgh spelling, such as THORNBROUGH/THORNBRUGH/THORNBURG/
THORNBURGH/THORNBERRY, etc. Benjamin said his family arrived in Washington Co., IN in 1808 and he married Susan MONICAL/MONICLE in 1817. On the 1820 census for Washington Co., IN there is a Benjamin THORNBURGH, Amos THORNBURGH, and Joseph THORNBERRY. It appears likely that this Benj. is the son of Amos - but who was Joseph? Was he my "missing" ancestor who married Rebecca GIBSON, was from NC, in OH abt. 1806 - 1812, and in IN by 1815 at least, settling in Greencastle, Putnam Co., IN by 1822? My Joseph's father was said to be a Quaker - were this Benjamin and Amos also from Quaker families? This Benjamin THORNBURGH and his wife Susan MONICAL (dau. of Peter) had some connection to the HARBISON family... m. by Rev. James HARBISON, their son named John HARBISON THORNBURGH (b. Nov. 4, 1821 Washington Co., IN)- he married Eliza REAGAN in 1846.

seeking parents of John H. Singleton, b.1818 Mercer Co., Ky
Surnames: SINGLETON#00690

Seeking any info on ANY Singleton from 1780-1849.
Info thus far: John Hawkins Singleton born June 25, 1818 in MERCER CO. KY. Left Ky. twice - to join in Texas Revolution & Mexican War. Remained in Texas after 1849.

Suspect he may have been son or nephew of Robert Singleton who aquired a 50 acre military grant at Salt River, Jefferson Co. in 1780.

Any further leads on parentage of John H. Singleton would be helpful.
Thanks.L.B

Looking for the family of Charles William Browning and his wife's family (unknown) Nancy A. Ray. Charles Wm. Browning was the son of William Browning and Mary Alexander of Virginia. Charles was born around 1866 and was born in Virginia. He settled around Salisa/Talmadge area of Mercer Co. Ky. And is buried in an unmarked grave at Hebron Church in Anderson Co. ARMSTRONG

John, the Mercer Co. marriages for ARMSTRONGS listed in this database apparently come from "Kentucky Marriages - Early to 1800", Liahona Research Inc., pg. 7. It does show William Armstrong to Mary Robertson 03 Apr 1796. I have other information that shows William Armstrong (b. 1765 d. 7 Mar 1839) married to Elizabeth Robinson 3 Apr 1796 (sometimes referred to as Robertson). In any event, this William is the son of John Armstrong (b. 10 May 1732 d. 24 Jun 1801). William and Elizabeth did have a son James b. 13 Sep 1796, but he died in 1831 with no children (never married).
The first son of John was Robert. Robert and Mary McAfee Armstrong had a son James M. but he was born between 1800 - 1810, married Mary Bunton 21 Dec 1840. I do not have any other information on him.

Regards,
Larry

It is thought that JAMES BAKER who died in 1845 is buried in Mercer Co. Just several years before his death he sold his land in Mercer to son, BEVERLY, and his wife ISABEL SNEED. James had 8 children. Son, LEWIS, is thought to have lived in Mercer Co. as did his grandchildren, the PEAVLERS, among others.

I am seeking any records indicating James' wife's name, his place of burial in Mercer Co., etc. Nor has any will or inventory of his belongings been located. More than 1,400 descendants of his are now in my database, however.

Peter Bruner was born in Mercer Co. Ky Jan 30, 1791 I thought it was Boyle Co., but since it was not in effect yet it has to be Mercer Co.If anyone has any Proof that John Robert Bruner and Permelia? were his parents all Bruner's researching would appreceaite it. It is said that Permelia andJohn were married in Pa. we're no even sure of this, maybe N.J. Elizabeth Bruner married Phillip Fulkerson and Margaret Bruner married John Fulkerson, was Permelia also a Fulkerson since the name goes down on both sides of the Bruners and the Fulkersons Help!!!!!!!!!!!
