I have found that a ROBERT HARVEY MITCHELL died in Mercer Co c1818.His wife was MARY. My ancester a WILLIAM MITCHELL married RACHEL THOMPSON in Mercer 6 Sept 1821. I have not been able to tie William in with any other Mitchells in Mercer and am hopeing he might be related to Robert. Anyone have any information on Robert? Thanks Tom

My ancestor was suppose to have been in KY in the late 1790's. He was John Campton, He had 2 brothers that i know of: Robert and William. Robert was married in Mercer County, KY. By the early 1800's the 3 brothers moved to Highland County, OH. Who was there father? Rumer says they came from VA. , but moved after a servent killed one of a Campton's infants.

James Baker moved from Halifax Co., VA. to Mercer Co. on Sugar Creek in the 1780s before Garrard was split from Mercer. (Sugar Creek became Garrard) He mar. ? and raised 8 children in the area. Several settled in Mercer.They were: Beverly m. Isabel Sneed, Susannah m.?, Henrietta m. Wm. Hubbard, Sallie m. Richard Cambron, Henry m. Kitty,Thomas, m.? and died in Mercer, Martin m. 1. Cassandra Colquitt, & 2. Eliza Rice, James m. Margaret Tungate, and John Rueben m. ?. Information about ANY of these spouses,especially James' would be appreciated. Cary, it seems the number of descendants of Johann Andreas Garr are increasing on the internet. Hopefully one day these descendents will be able to develop a organization website for those researching our famuly heritage. I live in Louisville just six miles from where Samuel Blankenbaker settled in the late 1700's at what would become Jeffersontown, KY later on. The early Fishers where about 15 miles South of Jefferstown in a settlement later to be known as Fisherville. The Garrs settled about five miles East of Jeffersontown in what is now Anchorage, KY. There are still many descendants of these families living around Louisville. Looking forward to working with all descendants interested in these families.

Does anyone have any information regarding a Josiah Casey or Cayce (about 1780) from Cumberland Co. VA who may have lived or passed through Mercer County, KY. It is believed that Josiah and his wife Sally Charlton moved to Franklin Co KY by 1810 and later Shelby County KY by 1840. I think he is the father of my ancestor Henry Casey (born about 1807) who lived in nearby Anderson Co. KY. Josiah may have several oher childlen. At least one may be Robert born about 1815. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I keep finding bits and pieces that implies a connection between Josiah and Henry, but not enough to prove.

According to "Marriage Bonds and Consents 1786-1810 Mercer County, Kentucky" by Ison and Connover (Ms. Ison is with the Harrodsburg Historical Society), John's Name was spelled at least two additional ways: Bond dated 1 Oct 1808 Mercer Co., Ky John Tolly m. Rachel Stephens Bondsman: Levi Hale and also, from the Ministers' Returns (same book): 2 Oct 1808 Mercer Co., Ky (by Reev. Thomas Kyle) John Fooley (a script 'T' looking like a 'F' ???) m. Rachel Stephens (actual marriage date) It can only be assumed that if there were no consent found on record, that the bride was of age (meaning at least 21) at the time of her marriage. That would put her birth year at 1787 or before, which may help in matching her to parents, but unfortunately, doesn't tell you who those parents are. Hope this helps you with other potential avenues to follow ... other possible spellings of Tuley = Tully, Tolley, Tooley.
