Samuel McNutts: 26 Mar 1833..deposted that he became aquainted with Thomas Graham, Sr. about 1810 or 1812 and down to the present & has frequently heard the old man speak of his service, previous to the old man loosing his sight, they were frequently together.

He had a wife but no other family or children living with me on whom to depend for support. State of Indiana, County of Marion..3 Jul 1838..he deposed that he has lately removed to Indiana, where he intends to remain and wishes his pension transferred from Ky. The reason he moved was the fact that his children wre living in Indiana.

Benjamin Dean: On 3 Jun 1833..he states he remembers the service of John George as a sargeant in the First New Jersey, sd Dean was in the 2nd New Jersey & they were together in many battles.

GALLOWAY, JAMES: Born in Ireland & came to the US in 1766 & landed at Newcastle on the Delaware River 11 Sep 1766 & soon after removed to Chester Co., Pa where he resided at the time of the ARW in 1776..I was cut down by a severe cut of a sword on my head from a British Dragoon which fractured my skull and greatly injured me. I was carried off the ground by my commander and after the battle I was carried in a Baggage Wagon to a Hospital on the Delawre above the mouth of the Schuekill, where I was confined for about 6 & 1/2 months & I returned to my home in Chester Co in the Month of March 1779. Later volunteered & at Stoney Point I received several Bayonet wounds in my left hand and arm which are visable and injured me greatly....then at Guilford Court House I engaged in a Battle about March 1781 where I received several Bayonet wounds in my right arms..confined weeks with my wounds. Served a total of 4 years, 2 & 1/3 months in the Pa Militia. "I loved Liberty & my adopted country", I always volunteered, I was never drafted. I lived in Chester Co., Pa until 1791. I removed to Mercer Co., Ky. , where I have lived ever since. My house burned down 19 Feb 1806 & all my papers were burned.

Jane _____: She is the widow of James Galloway & they were married about 1781 or 2, by publishing (banns) at her Uncle Walter Hoods in Chester Co., Oxford Twsp, Pa. Her husband died 24 Aug 1840 in Mercer Co., Ky...has tried every available way to secure a record of her marriage but can only rely on the ages of her children..her oldest child, Peggy Galloway, if living would be 61; she being born in 1785..she has been dead about 10 years, her next oldest child, if living would be 60 years old, her name was Ann Galloway & her next would be William Galloway, if living would be 59, he died when young; her next oldest Daniel Galloway if living would be 58 years old, he died about 2 years since. There were from 18 to 24 months between the rest of her children, except the two last. Chalres Galloway and Nancy Galloway & there were 4 years between those two, Nancy being the youngest of twelve children, which the declarent & James Galloway, had & Nancy Galloway is near 36 years old.

Nancy Galloway: That she is the youngest of her brothers & sisters..there were 11 & then myself. I have often heard my father say the marriage took place at the end of the ARW.

Affiant 2: Capt. Jacob Keller
Capt. Jacob Keller: 3 Dec 1846..a resident of Mercer Co., Ky..he became aquainted with James & Jane Galloway over 40 years ago & James Galloway when he first came to Mercer Co, lived near his father where this deponent then lived. The oldest was Peggy & the next was Ann, both nearly grown & Peggy was older than the deponent. James Galloway had been previously married in Penn & from thence moved to NC & then to Mercer Co., Ky & settled where, Jane now lives. If they had not been married he would have heard of it as Mrs. Galloway had 3 brothers in the neighboor, citizen's of the county and continued as such for some years thereafter.

Samuel Keller: 3 Dec 1846..He is 59 years old..has known the family for more than 40 years & they settled near the home of this deponents father & they lived in his neighboor with the exception of 2-3 years.

David Jones: 30 Dec 1846..James & Jane Galloway when they settled in Mercer Co, lived about 1/2 mile from him

Affiant 5: Amanda Adams
Amanda Adams: Makes Oath on 1 Aug 1848..that she is the daughter of Catherine Adams, who was Catherine Galloway, the 6th child of James & Jane Galloway.

Other 1: Susanna Jones
Susanna Jones: 30 Dec 1846..age 70..became aquainted with James & Jane Galloway about 1803 or 4, after they moved to this county and settled near this deponent & shortly thereafter their house burnt.

There is a suit in Chancery in Boyle Co contesting the valadity of the Will of Elias on teh ground of imbecility of intellect the result of extreme age.

Benj. Fisher: 7 Oct 1833. Age 66, says he is well aquanted with Elias Fisher & knows he served in Va & acted as a spy for Col. Benjamin Logan in Ky against the Indians.

I well recollect of his being badly burned with powder & a soldier by the name of James Hammond threw a stone at him & cut his arm very much, very near the elbow, the scar of which is still visable. I have not seen said Fallis for many years

DEMAREE, JOHN: Bounty Land Warrant: 26098-160-55 Va. He states he is a resident of Mercer Co., Ky & lives on Brush Creek. He was born in New York State & at the age of 12 removed to Berkley Co., Va. where he resided at the time of the ARW until 9 Apr 1780, when the landed at Louisville & have lived in Ky ever since. He saw service in Va & again in Ky.He was with General George Rogers Clark on the march against Old Chilicothe..was at the Low-Dutch Fort about 7 miles from Louisville as a spy..on the 6th day of Feb 1781 was taken prisoner by the Ottawa Indians & taken to their towns & in May was sold the the British at Detroit & put in Jail until Ocotober when I was taken to Lake Champlain where I made my escape with two others. Mr. Harmon Greathouse & my father PETER DEMAREE who was taken prisioner when I was. When the Indians took me prisioner,,they fired on me which broke my left arm. Having suffered much & been in captivity for 12 months. D.G.B. Demaree & Wm . D. Demaree make depositions. One paper says he resided at Martinsburg, Va when he first enlisted.

Bondsman: John Demaree, Jr. Bride wrote her own consent. Wit: Mary Demaree. (NOTE She appears to be the widow Cornish when she married).

(from about 1780 to 1782) lived in Goochland Co..then removed to Cumberland Co & remained there 9 years..then moved to Buckingham & lived there 7 years & then removed to Mercer Co., Ky where I have resided about 20 years.

CORN, TIMOTHY: In March of 1780, himself & his father's family emigrated from near Browntown in Penn, then called Redstone and landed at the mouth of Bear Grass near the falls of the Ohio, sometime in the same month..we were all told to hurry to the Fort & take shelter or we would be killed by Indians. We succeeded in getting into the fort. At the time at Sims Fort, 12-14 persons were killed by Indians, the principal hunter, Phillip Young was killed by Indians near the fort. Dec 1780, myself & my father's family removed to McGary's Fort on Shawnee Run, now in Mercer Co., Ky...he was at several forts in Mercer Co..Denton's Fort, McAfee's Fort on the Salt River..by this time his father has succeeded in building a small fort.

Elizabeth _____: Records: Widow Edlizabeth Yeast m Timothy Corn on 17 Jul 1831, the bond was dated 23 Jun 1831 & George G. Clark was the bondsman. She states her name before her marriage to Timothy Corn was Mrs. Elizabeth Yeast.. Timothy Corn died 21 Aug 1848. She remembers the date she married by the Date her oldest son was married the next April & his oldest child was born 18 months afterwards & she will be 20 years old sometime about October 1833. She married Timothy Corn in Harrodsburg, Ky by Mr. Head, a methodist minister.

Gen. James Ray: Deposes 1 Sep 1834..that he became aquainted with Timothy Corn in 1781 & they fought together..guarding the forts

On 8 Oct 1835..In Johnson Co., Ind..Daniel Coovert a resident of Mercer Co., Ky., states that after the war Isaac Coovert removed to Penn (living there only a short time) & then to Kentucky. Isaac Coovert's widow was Anna Coovert. The children left by Isaac Coovert at the time of his death, all now live in Johnson Co., Ind: John Coovert, Corneleous Coovert, Simon Coovert, Daniel Coovert, Lemma Legrange (late Coovert), Martha Freeman (late Coovert), Jane Voris (later Coovert. Isaac died in Mercer Co., Ky in Sept. 1825

John Coovert: In order to secure arrears of Pension due Isaac Coovert, now dec'd, John Coovert, son of Isaac, makes the following statements in Johnson Co., Ind, where he resides on 8 Oct 1835. His father lived in Mercer Co., Ky where he died somethime in Sept 1825. The widow of sd Isaac removed to Johnson Co., Ind., with John Coover & she died in 1828. He is the oldest son of sd Isaac & is 53 years old.

Israel Robertson: Also spelled Robinson (sic). 10 Feb 1837..he is 65 years of age & said Catherine Coleman is his aunt..he has been aquainted with them since he was old enough to know any one. Robet Coleman died Jan 1834.
