Ebenezer Carey: He was born in Litchfield, Conn on 9 Mar 1761. My father died when I was 9 years old & my mother being unable to keep her children, I went at age 13 to the state of Vermont & lived with my Grandfather's brother near Burlington & when I was 16 years og age in Apr 1777, volunteered for the militia..in the spring of 1778 I returned to Vermont & lived with an uncle until sometime in Jun 1778..again enlisted..at the end of the ARW I returned to Conn. & lived there 2 years..then went on board a vessel and sailed around to Savannah and on to Augusta & married in a place called Bedford. I then removed to South Carolina & in the year 1794 removed to Mercer Co., Ky where I have lived to the present day, with only temporary absence. Thomas Allin, Clerk of Mercer Co presents records that Samuel Britton married Anne Smock, 25 Jul 1799 by Rev. John McGraw. He further states the Will of Samuel Brittan was presented in court Oct 1834.Robert McAfee says he is well aquainted with Samuel Britton who died in Mercer Co & he has resided in this county since McAfee was a boy. Their surviving children were: Cynthia Craig of Anderson Co., Ky; Barnett Britton of Louisville., Ky.; Samuel Britton of Mercer Co., Ky. --- Felix Matheny in 1855, who keeps a store in Salvisa finds in his books, that sold on 12 Apr 1851 was shrouding for the burial of Mrs. Ann Britton, widow of Samuel. She died in Anderson Co at the home of her grandson, Thomas J. Powell.

He states that he knows both Claiborne Bradshaw & Elizabeth h/w, and had lived from the days of his childhood in the immediate neighborhood until they moved to Ky. He was also present at the marriage of Claiborne & Elizabeth & remembers to have slept in the same bed with Parson Douglas the night he married them.
