Newman <rcnewman@erols.com> Fri, 01 Jan 1999 << Previous in Thread The William Godfrey whom you are looking for who moved from VA to Mercer Co, KY may be related to the Godfreys of Prince William Co, VA. My gg-grandfather Charles Godfrey had a brother William born c1803 (1850 census, Pr Wm Co) in VA, but he did not migrate to KY. He apparently had a son William (b c1832) and a nephew William (b c1830), and there is another unidentified William (b c1826) in this 1850 census. The Godfreys tended to use traditional names, but I haven't yet got them all organized. Top | Surname Index | Researchers Page | 'Every Word' Search | Archived Data | Home

Green & Green Surnames: COOK, GREEN, WAGAMAN #01036 Anne Baker <abaker@searnet.com> Tue, 05 Jan 1999 << Previous in Thread Response >> The marriage bond on file has the bondsman as David Wagaman & consent for the bride: Hanson Green. Attest the consent was David Wagaman & Strawther Cook. The 1850 census of Mercer does not have either a Joseph Green or Mary Ann "Polly" Green in any household that could even remotely fit this couple. Nor does the 1860 census of Mercer have any of these folks. To add to the mix by 1860 there were Greens living in Mercer Co who were born Ky, Tenn & Scotland. David Wagaman, or any Wagaman does not appear in census records or on any other marriage record. I could not find the name Hanson Green on any other marriage record or census record.
