Ewing/Duncan
Surnames: DUNCAN, EWING#01330
Patrick Hays <gsdownr@geocities.com> Mon, 26 Apr 1999
According to Mercer Co. Court Orders, Book 1, Page 39 March 28, 1787, there was a case Charles DUNCAN v. Young EWING, on petition which was by consent dismissed. This seems to refer to Charles Duncan who was a resident of Nelson Co (near Chaplin) and his son-in-law Young Ewing.

Young Ewing seemed to have led a very busy and interesting life:
He was born in Bedford Co., VA
married in Jefferson Co., VA/KY before 1784 to Rosanna Duncan
Lived for a short period in Nelson Co. where the Duncan family lived
Fathered Mary Baker Ewing in 1786
Divorced Rosanna Duncan??? (she didn't die until 1843)
Married in Lincoln Co. in 1791 to Winnefred Warren
Was one of the three original magistrates of Logan Co., KY in 1792
Was Justice of the Peace, Logan Co. 1794
Was a member of the KY Legislature from Logan Co., KY 1795
Was one of the first trustees of Newton Academy
Was married again to Evalina A. Jennings.

Can anyone verify that this is one Young Ewing??? Thank you.
and who knows what all else.

The 1850 Census of Mercer County (page 367) lists a William Sargent (67 years old) having been born in North Carolina. It also lists his wife Jane and daughter Rebecca. Does anyone know if this William Sargent had a sister also named Rebecca (also born in NC) who married my g-g-g-grandfather William Denham in the 1790's? All I have is that Rebecca Sargent born in NC married William Denham. I have much to share if anyone can connect me to the right family. Thank you Jim Denham jjdenham@msn.com

Many, many years ago, a researcher gathered together the parents and siblings of my gr grf John White. Finally, after all this time, I realize that, other than one marriage bond, I have not one shred of priority proof of these facts. Please, how does one prove parents and siblings in the early 1800s when there is no will or other papers? Thanks for words of wisdom. Hazel

Samuel Taylor line
Surnames: PORTER, TAYLOR#01340
Bill Taylor <bill.taylor@mail.state.ky.us> Fri, 30 Apr 1999
 << Previous in Thread
Hi David, it's Bill Taylor here. I got your letter. Don't know if I can help. Do you live close to Jack Dalton who lives on Scenic Dr.? He wrote the book "Bury Me in Dixville"
Some of my relatives are in the book. I may be kin to you if I ever find out who George's father was. I think it was a John Taylor. By your relatives location in Cornishville, I think there is a strong possibility that you are out of a Major Willis Taylor and Nancy Morgan line. Major Willis T.
was supposedly the son of a John Taylor. If you are kin to this line then you should see family lines of Satterlys,Morgans, Humes,Leonards,Coulters,Hills linking into it. Major Willis T. was living on the Taylor Creek, and Glens Creek east of Willisburg, Ky, in Washington co. The Morgans were from Anderson co. Ky. There is a David Lee Taylor who lives in Kansas and is kin to this line. His e-mail is Tornado@sktc.net. There is a Shirley Hume Wilheim who lives in Jeffersonville, In near me. There is a Phylis Taylor North who is kin to Major Willis's son Daniel W. Taylor who married Sarah Bird in Washington co. in the 1800s.There is an Audrey Taylor Poole who lives in Crestwood, Oldham co. Ky who is from that line. There is also a Gloria Gibbel who is trying to document that John Taylor is the father of Major Willis Taylor so she can get into the DAR. I am at work and if you want more info or the
e-mails/addresses of some of these let me know. My Samuel L. Taylor was born in 1827 after your Samuel. I think they were all named after Samuel Taylor the representative to Mercer co. in 1792,93,98 who lived on the Chattam Lane outside Harrodsburg. He moved in 1811 to Washington co. just over the Mercer line and died in 1812. There was another Samuel who was on the Tax Rolls in 1813, who could have been your relative. I think he was Samuel the Represent.'s son Samuel T. jr. who returned from Virginia to claim his inherited farm and grist mill. Please note my new e-mail. Talk to you later. Sincerely Bill C. Taylor, 3826 Dogwood Rd. Floyd Knobs, IN 47119
