Hawkins/Beck Surnames: BECK, HAWKINS #01634 Chris Moon <chris@businessoftware.com> Mon, 13 Sep 1999 Searching for first wife of Francis G. Hawkins. She was a Beck born abt 1792 place unknown, she died abt 1818 Mercer Co Ky. She and Francis had at least three children Lucy Beck Hawkins b.1813 in Mercer Co Ky.; Dorothy Beck Hawkins b.1815 Mercer Co Ky; and George Beck Hawkins b.1818 Mercer Co Ky. I know there were Beck's in Mercer Co Ky but this is all the info I have. These children had or took Beck as their middle name. I have not located and Beck wills or deeds which name these Hawkins Children. Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated. Chris Moon

Murphy of Mercer Surnames: MURPHY, WHEAT #01637 albert j wheat <ajwheat@aol.com> Wed, 15 Sep 1999 Response >> Ora Lee MURPHY (born 1886) of Mercer County married my great uncle Samuel N. WHEAT (born 1881) of Boyle County probably around 1905. By 1920, Ora lee and Samuel were living in Ludlow, Kentucky with 13 year old daughter, Gladys, who in later years, claimed to be a native of Harrodsburg.
I am seeking information on the MURPHY family about whom nothing more is known. I have lots on the WHEAT family and am always happy to share what I have.

Mary T was the daughter of Thomas Jackson and a sister to William & Henry. John J & Mary T moved to Schuyler county Illinois in 1835 with their children that were born in Kentucky (subsequent children born in Illinois):John Jackson (b 1831), Thomas J (b 1832), James S (b 1831), & Henry W (b 1834). She was the daughter of Thomas Jackson and a sister to William & Henry. There was a Prittle Jordon & Jackson also mentioned in her obituary, but I can't determine whether it was a repeat of her father & mother. Mary T was born in 1806. She married John J Gash from Perryville in 1829. John J was the son of Henry W Gash & Ann Wood. He was born in 1809. He & Mary T moved to Schuyler county Illinois with their children that were born in KY in 1835. Their children that were born in KY were: John Jackson (b 1831), Thomas J (b 1832), James S (b 1833), & Henry W (b 1835). John J was from Perryville, KY. He was born in 1809 to HENRY W GASH and ANN WOOD(s). His siblings were: Elizabeth (married a WAY), Henry, & Robert. He married Mary T Jackson of Washington county KY in 1829. Mary T was born in 1806. Her father was Thomas Jackson. Her siblings were: William and Henry. Her obituary also shows the names of (Mary) Prittle Jordon and Jackson again. I am not certain if these names are siblings or her parents because of the way the obituary was written. John J & Mary T moved to Schuyler county Illinois in 1835. At the time of their move they had the following children born in KY: John Jackson (b 1829-30), Thomas J (b 1831-definite), James S (b 1832-33), & Henry W (b 1834-35). Can anyone help? Surnames: HANNA, PATTERSON, QUIGLEY #01653 Christine Cottrell <acchome@cyberhighway.net> Thu, 23 Sep 1999 My gggggrandparents, John Maywood Quigley and Mary Patterson, were married in Berkeley Co, VA in 1796. They moved somewhere in KY, possibley Mercer Co, had two children, John and William (1801) then moved back to Monongalia Co, VA by 1810. They may have moved near relatives in the Patterson family or even the Hanna family.
