Peter Bruner was Born in Boyle/Mercer Co. Ky. Jan 30, 1791, His Father was John Bruner who ran a Tavern in Mercer, then Nelson Co. Ky. they are listed on the Kygenweb as a family history and there are two of the Tavern Deeds, at least one is from Mercer Co. They Married Fulkerson's quite far down the line. Nancy J which should be Nancy L. is on the Birth records in the marriage section, I added some also, But Nancy L. was married To Andrew Jackson McGrew. Any information on John and Permelia ? Bruner would be much appreceiated.

Hello, The name is Strother Cook and he was from Madison Co. Va. His family was related to the Henderson's of Madison Co.Va. to Mercer Co. kty. I have a ancestor of the same family who was Polly Green d/o Wm. Green in Henry co. Kty. She m. James Henderson of Henry co. in 1825 These Greens were from Culpepper co. orig. Wood was from Albemarle Co. Va. in the Henderson family. There is a great history of the Green family in the book "Culpepper Co. St. Marks Parish" by Rev. Slaughter. Donald, I have a Robert Bottom who married a Chloe Latimer 29 Sep 1795 in Mercer, KY. She was the daughter of Samuel Latimer, Sr. of Mercer who died ca. October 1828. I am a descendant of Samuel Latimer, Jr. who on 3 Feb. 1802 married Polly Dougherty, dau. of Lt. James Dougherty, Jr. and Rebecca Cunningham. I have some more on this family. Nancy Bassett born in Mercer County, Ky. November 8, 1804 was the daughter of Abner Bassett, the son of Nathaniel Bassett Sr., who was my 5th ggrandmother, Elizabeth Bassett Burton's, eldest brother. Their parents were Thomas and Lydia Howe Bassett Jr. Abner died in Garrard County after 1815. Sorry, I forgot to give you the information on Nancy's Mother, Susannah Harbard. Abner and Susannah were married in Garrard County, Ky. March 4, 1800. Nancy's eldest six siblings were born in Garrard before 1803, so the family must have come to Mercer County in 1804-1805 and then gone back to Garrard after 1815. Nancy, and her three younger sisters, Eliza, Susan Ann, and Sally Bassett were all born in Mercer County, Ky.

Hugh Wilson, md. Christina Stagner. They had the first white child born Kentucky, Mercer Co. His name was Harrod. Looking for information on any siblings or descendants of Hugh and Christina. Hugh was killed by indians 1877 and Christina married James Barry. Her father John Stagner was also killed in 1877 by Indians in Mercer Co., KY. I am looking for any names of ancestors in the Brown family and the Harlow family. My great-grandparents are John W. Harlow born around 1850-60's and Cora Lee Brown born on Apr.1, 1900. They had 5 children named Delbert, Pocohantas, Vickie, Georgia, and Rhoda. John and his first wife had 10 children named Mary, Maude, Mattie, Margie, Elsie, Amy, Bishop,Raymond, Henry, and Estel. John died in 1936 and Cora died in 1985. Cora was John's second wife and they lived in Mercer County Kentucky and surrounding counties. There is to believed that somewhere along the line in the Harlow family is some Indian either John's mother or grandmother was an Indian woman. If you have any information please let me know. This is an update of the previous message. I am still looking for primary source information for the parents of Julius Jenkins and Matilda Demaree and their siblings. Any information on their children & grandchildren would also be welcome. Julius Jenkins married Matilda Demaree on February 24, 1830. Matilda was the daughter of Peter and ? Demaree/Demarest. John Demaree signed as surety on Feb 18, 1830 and signing consent was Peter Demaree for his daughter Feb 16, 1830. Witnessed by Ludwell Cornish and John Demaree. The children of JULIUS JENKINS and MATILDA DEMAREE were probably all born in Mercer County, Kentucky. i. MATTHEW H. JENKINS, b. November 28, 1832; d. February 19, 1866. ii.ISSAC W. JENKINS, b. July 14, 1834; d. September 23, 1901, Rushville, Illinois. iii.MALINDA E. JENKINS, b. August 14, 1836. iv.MARY A. JENKINS, b. April 14, 1838. v.LUTHER JENKINS, b. June 20, 1841. vi.HELEN JENKINS, b. I am looking for Aaron SMITH, who lived and owned property in Mercer County in the 1830s and 1840s. He was born in Culpeper CO, VA in 1766, died in 1851. Wife was Rebecca FRY. Children were James Powell Smith, Susan Smith Bayne, Amanda Melvina Smith Bayne, Catherine Powell Smith Abney and Aaron Fry Smith. Has anyone run across Aaron -- I'm trying to confirm that his parents were John Smith and Elizabeth Powell, who also lived in Mercer County for a time.

Looking for information on any Helmer in Mercer county Kentucky. Years would be 1795 - 1850. Current information I have is as follows: Milchert Helmer was married to Lucinda Haggerty on 1-11-1826 in Mercer Co., KY. Jeremiah Helmer was married to Mary Ann Haggerty on 1-25-1827 in Mercer Co., KY. Milchert and Jeremiah could have brothers named William (born approx 1805 in Ky)and George (born approx 1795 in Pennsylvania). However, I am not certain that any of these are brothers, I would like to confirm this. George married Mary Ann Silvey (daughter of John Silvey??)in 1836 in Woodville, Miss. There were Silveys in this area of Kentucky at the time. Info on John or Mary Ann Silvey would be appreciated as well.

Civil War Ghosts

The Civil War records of Mercer County, Kentucky list an Abion Daughtrey and a James K.P. Daughtry as privates in the 20th Kentucky (Union) Infantry. This got my attention because my family spells its name DAUGHTREY and they were from Kentucky. The only ancestor I know anything about is my grandfather, John Richard Daughtrey, an Irish-American who lived in Union County, Kentucky in the first quarter of the 20th century. Would appreciate any information.

I 'm glad I ran across your message. NANCY OVERSTREET is in my line gr-gr-gr-gr grandmother she married LESTER THOMAS BROWN Aug. 9, 1823 in Mercer Co. Ky. she was born Nov.13, 1807 died May28, 1879 in Daviess Co. Ky. They had nine children. I would like more information on Nancy's family, I know very little about them. Geraldine, Your Nancy is the sister of my ancestor, Thomas Jefferson Overstreet, born 1812, KY, died June, 1895 in AL. They are the children of Henry Overstreet and ? (Walker) Overstreet, and the grandchildren of Thomas "the hatter" and Judith (Walker) Overstreet who came to Mercer County, Ky in 1793 from Bedford County, VA.

Hi, Nancy Overstreet and Lester Thomas Brown are my great-great-great grandparents, too. I have been looking for Nancy's parents for 15 years and suspected her father was Henry O.
