Photos of 1790 McAfee House

I have a few recent photos (in .jpg files) of James McAfee's 1790 stone house on the Salt River in Mercer County. James McAfee was the brother of my g-g-g-grandfather George McAfee. The house looks about the way it did in the old photo published in the "Woods-McAfee Memorial" even though some small additions have been made over the years. The house and 222 acres were recently sold. I can send the photos as e-mail attachments to anyone who is interested.

Nancy: The Lucy Slaughter you have in Mercer County, KY, must be a different one from the one I am researching. I am sseking information about the Lucinda Brown Slaughter (who first married Gabriel Long and upon his death, married his half-brother, Thomas Stubblefield Long. This Lucy was the daughter of Colonel John Slaughter, a Revoluntionary soildier from Culpeper County, VA. She died March, 1866 in Hopkinsville, KY. Married Mary Hickerson and had at least 10 children in the Mercer Co., KY area. Asberry died in 1863in Mercer Co. I am very interested in the will of your William Brown. Did it mention any other children's names? I am interested in a Nathan Brown, bca.1780-1800 (Mercer Co.?) KY.married Mary (prehaps Wilson). I believe Nathan was previously married as he had a son William Brown, b abt. 1825 that married Matilda Finely in 1841 Abbeville, SC. Mary could not have been William's mother as she was born abt.1818 KY or SC.

Please help!!! I am looking for information concerning my 5th great grandparents, William Allen and Martha McAdoo. They were from Culpeper or Orange County Virginia. They moved to Mercer County and owned a tract of land called Allen's Preemption. He later moved to Barren County, Kentucky. I don't have any dates but there first child was born before 1765. I have hit a huge brick wall. I cannot find any information on William's parents or his birthdate/deathdate.

David Williams was in KY in 1774. Helped to build Fort Harrodsburg. Was a Rev. War Soldier. Came into KY from Northern VA/WVA with Abraham and Isaac Hite to survey. Also,it is believed he was sent by the Gov. of N.C. with the Transylvania Co. ??????? Any help? Thanks, Sandy

I am trying to find information on my gg-gf/gm who supposedly are from Mercer Co., Ky. DANIEL MURPHY married AMANDA JENKINS (d/o GREENUP JENKINS and MARY BEEGLE) Daniel would have been born about 1824. I have found the JENKINS family in the 1850 Mercer Co. census and have found the DANIEL MURPHY/AMANDA JENKINS family in the 1860 Mercer Co. census. I do not know where Daniel came from nor what the fate of Daniel and Amanda was. They had a son, JOHN T. MURPHY and a daughter PATSY. Can anyone out there be of any help to me. Dan and Amanda are being very elusive. Thanks.

I am related to Joseph Butler who married Agnes Harbison of Mercer County Kentucky. It is believed that he is possibly the brother of James Butler and Agnes and Mary are sisters. Do you know if this is true? If so I can give you a lot of information on Joseph Butler and his family. They moved to Henderson County before 1799. Milton Lamme

I'm looking for information on my ggggrandfather Milton Lamme who liquidated his Mercer County Kentucky holdings in about 1860 and emigrated to Missouri with his son Tilford Lamme. Milton owned quite a bit of property and many race horses and 40 slaves before the Civil War. The Union Army approrpiated his racing horses for the war. According to my grandmother there were 6 children in all. I would appreciate any help on this. Milton was born in 1800 and passed on in 1872 in Linn County Missouri. Would also like to know the name of Milton's wife.
