I'm looking for info on Rollan Allen who is listed on the Social Security Death Index as having died in Harrodsburg, Mercer County in September, 1975. I am trying to discern whether or not this would be the same Rollan Allen who is on my family tree. I would like to know if someone could possibly be able to look up his obituary and find out whether this Rollan Allen was married to a woman named Winifred Larson. I would also like to find out where Rollan was buried.

Have found out that John Wm Voris' mother was a Melissa Tipton Voris and he was born in Mt. Vernon on Apr 14, 1868. He had 2 sisters that I know of (may be more) by the name of Emma and Marie. Don't know his father's name but do know that he died in KY and Melissa took her children to TX and remarried later to a ? ROSE. Any info on Melissa TIPTON or John's father would be appreciated. Does anyone know anything about John Warren & Jane Phillips family. They were married Dec. 24, 1838, Mercer County, Ky. Their children were Aaron, Mallinda, Serena, Sidney, Clara, John, George, William, James and Martha. I'm trying to find out if this Sidney is a female. I'm searching for my great grandmother, Sidney Warren who married Wallen W. Baker, son of John S. Baker and Susannah Wallen. I interested in hearing from anyone who has an interest in the Conowago Colony that came from York/Adams Co Pa. I am searching for the name of VANDUYN and CROUT. I have a list of the baptism of the colony and letters that were written in the early 1800's. All this data is being transcribed and will soon appear on the Cayuga Co NY site. Many from the colony went to Cayuga Co NY.

I have a history of the Conewago church written by a Rev Demarest that lists church members. Was written in 1866 if I recall. Also a reprinted newspaper series and taxables list of the Conewago colony from Adams Co, Pa. Many moved from there to Mercer Co., Ky.

Currys Survey of 400 acres & running with the line thereof South 90 poles to a run near the Mouth thence S 15 W 140 poles to a white oak Black oak & Hickory Standing by a small drain thence S 30 E 40 poles running upon Thompsons Fork of Chaplains Fork to an Elm Walnut & Water Beech, thence East 180 poles crossing said Fork three times to three Black oaks on the side of a hill 20 poles from the Creek, thence North 261 poles to two White Oaks, thence West 210 poles to the beginning variation 3 degrees East. August the 6th 1784 Marker Richard Sinnet Signed David Williams and Patrick Campbell ###struck out Campbell Signed J. Hite (assistant surveyor) and James Thompson Surveyor This land was realigned to Mercer County, KY when the County lines were reassigned. Here are the deeds and land transactions that have been entered in MERCER COUNTY DEEDS Purchased: Mercer County Book 3 page 375 bought land from Samuel Duree December 25, 1797.The land was located on Chapel Fork. Sold: Mercer County Richard sold land to William Coventry Nov 30 1785, 1789. Renews twice. This info was taken from a little red entry book for 1779-1814 Pg 39, 53 located in the Court house. Richard Sinnett & wife Polly sold land to Mathew Yocum 1801. Book 4S, page 528. Richard Sinnett & wife Mary sold land to Patrick Carmichael December 27, 1802. Book 4, pg. 437. Richard Sinnett & wife Mary sold land to John Kirkland December 27, 1802. Book 4, pg 439. Richard Sinnett & wife Mary sold land to Jesse Hale 1807. Book 6 page 192. Richard Sinnett & wife Mary sold land to Levi P. Lockhart May 2, 1818. Book 10, page 506. Richard Sinnett & wife Polly sold land to John Kirkland October 31,1825. Book 13, page 472. Richard uses the boundaries of land owned by Henry Sinnett and George Sinnett in his description of the land being sold. The lands above appear to be from the Chaplin Fork area.

I know very little about the Ray family, but I do have a connection to them as the daughter of General James Ray (Martha) was married to my great grandfather Dr. Granville C. Alfred (this name is also spelled Alford by most of the rest of that family) Martha Ray was his first wife, and my great grandmothe, Lucy Jane Trent was his second wife. I am sure that you could get a lot of information about General Ray from the Harrodsburg Historical Society. Martha Ray and Granville Alfred are both buried in the Grapevine Christain Church Cemetery near Duncan in Mercer County, Kentucky.
