She was the daughter of James Marion Bailey and Mary Jane Cummins. She first married James Woodson Lester the son of Wm. H. Lester and Nancy Jane Matherly. Searching for information regarding my grandmother HATTIE M. MARKSBURY whos parents were MARY MARKSBURY and GEORGE M. WILSON. Birth of Hattie Wilson was May 24, 1883 Mercer Cnty.Ky. My grandmother told of leaving Ky. by wagontrain & being made to stay low in wagon due to threat of attack from Commanchee, as they reportedly took children. The only thing I know about that trip, she ended up in Okla & married my grandfather Joseph S. (Sim) Williams. Would appreciate any info. anyone might have.

In searching for Ann HASWELL (nee POWELL), widow of John West HASWELL (b MD, died in Louisville, 1839), I found Ann HASWELL, age 66, b MD, listed among many others on the 1850 census, p. 282 Shakertown. Was Shakertown a Shaker religious community? If so, Ann is probably not my missing ancestress -- unless she converted from Methodism after her husband's death. Mary, Ann HASWELL was for a time a member of the Shaker community of Pleasant Hill in Mercer Co, KY. According to your information about the date of her husbands death, she apparently joined after -- not uncommon during that time, as widows sometimes had few choices. Ann HASWELL appears, at least, in two of the records kept by the community: the Church Record Book C (Harrodsburg Historical Society Collection) and the Roll Book (Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill Collection), as well as US Census 1850 and 1860 as being a resident. Church Record Book C states: "...was born July 25, 1784 in Maryland. Believed [joined] April 23, 1840 at which time she removed from Louisville, Kentucky to Pleasant Hill. Deceased in the Junior Order, May 14, 1862. The Shaker village at Pleasant Hill is now a restored historic village, interpreting the legacy of the Shakers who resided there for 100 years.

Loanne, Do you know much about the Coulters that lived in Mercer in the late 1700's and early 1800's? I have just discovered that my great grandfather David Brewer was married to Delly Coulter who was the daughter of John Coulter d.1810. My grandfather married Delly in 1812 but died in 1819 leaving Delly with three sons. I'm assuming she lived with the Coulters in the area after David's death. I can't help you with your question but would appreciate it if you could fill me in on any Coulter family history you may know. I also found it interesting that the name "Smith" became common in my family with David's children. I don't know if this means anything or if it is just coincidence. Thanks, Steve Brewer

From the posted will of George I Hall (see link below), he mentions a daughter, Pattyann Trisler as one of his heirs. This will was dated 11 May 1844 in Mercer County. Using a Marriage CD of KY I have found the only Hall Trisler marriage in Mercer Co which states Jacob Trisler m Martha Ann Hall on 23 Apr 1831. George's will called her Pattyann and it is prob an error on the CD. If you want I can look up actual marriage to verify this. I live in Mercer Co. I am desc through David G Hall. Be interested in sharing info with you if you trace all siblings, at this point I don't but should prob start.
