Kenneth D. Prater (DocPhud@AOL.com or kendean@earthlink.net), 2220 Baldwin Place, Apt. A, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 -- PRATER
Researching the family of WILLIAM and OBEDIENCE PRATER (m. August 7, 1811, FLOYD CO.). William died between 1847 and 1849. Their children were: Adam, ca. 1813; Mary |Polly, ca. 1815-16; Jonathan, ca. 1815; Eva, ca. 1819; Samuel, ca. 1822; William W., ca. 1824; John, ca. 1825; Elias, ca. 1826 (my g. g. grandfather); Obedience |Biddy, ca. 1830; Thomas L., ca. 1831; Elizabeth |Betty, ca. 1833; Newman, ca. 1833-34; and James |Jim, ca. 1835. Who were William's ancestors? One genealogy source says William was the son of ARCHIBALD PRATER (of MAGOFFIN COUNTY fame), but that William married NANCY COPE in 1808 and was living in MORGAN CO. according to the 1880 census. OBEDIENCE PRATER's parents are said to be WILLIAM and GLATHA PRATER/PRATHER from MONTGOMERY / BATH CO. but I have not substantiated this. Obedience died in FLOYD COUNTY in 1858. Dorothy Shepherd Wireman writes about this family in the History of Floyd County published in 1992. The Magoffin County Historical Society also has them in their files. Neither source lists the parents of William as far as I can tell. My lineage is: WILLIAM PRATER > ELIAS PRATER > PRESTON PRATER >ALEXANDER |ELEC PRATER, b. December 16, 1874, d. April 13, 1942 (FLOYD CO.) > JAMES PRATER, b. December 31, 1898 (FLOYD CO.), d. April 6, 1977 > KENNETH D. PRATER. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Greggory Ellis Davies (gedavies@winnsurf.net) -- DAVIE/GARRISON
I am researching the DAVIE and GARRISON families, who were probably living in CHRISTIAN CO. but I am told that some of their marriages, etc., might have occurred in MONTGOMERY CO. due to proximity of their residences. Particularly Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Davie who married John GARRISON, before 1835. Elizabeth was born c. 1818 NC, and she and Garrison removed to the OBION-GIBSON CO. area of nw TN. Following Garrison's death, Elizabeth remarried a FINCH, in Gibson-Obion area and they had several children, one name ASHBOURN or ASHBOURNE FINCH, which leads me to believe she was related to ASHBOURNE DAVIE of CHRISTIAN CO. I realize there is little info here to go on concerning Montgomery Co., but would appreciate any and all assistance as I have no access to court or marriage records, etc., in your area.

Becky Johnson (bajohns@kdsi.net) -- RABOURN
I am seeking the spouse of HENRY RABOURN, (Raburn, Rayburn) who lived in Montgomery Co., KY. It is known he lived on the Lulbregrud Creek near the town of Levee. He was born ca. 1763 and died in the spring of 1838 in Montgomery Co. Where is he buried?? He had the following known children: MARGARET; WILLIAM Jan. 30, 1789 to 1858 in Davis Co., IA. Married Esther Phillips on Jan. 9, 1814 in Montgomery Co., KY; JAMES; DAVID; NANCY; HENRY; HIRAM; MATILDA; JOHN WESTLEY; & SALLY (SARAH). More information is known about these siblings. Can anyone pinpoint where these RABURNS lived at (on the Lulbregrud) during the early 1800's? Who was Henry's wife and where are they buried?

Larry R. Herrin (herrin@wku.campus.mci.net) -- Multiple
William HERRIN, Sr. moved to Laurel Co. from Pulaski Co. in 1737 after marrying Sary WHITAKER, his 2nd wife. He had one son Thomas HERRON by her. Living in Laurel Co. were his two sons: William HERRON, Jr. and Shadrack HERRON who died in the Civil War. Their mother was Sally EVANS, daughter of Capt. John EVANS of Pulaski Co. William was the son of Shadrack HERRING who came from Rowan Co., NC in 1792 to Clark Co., KY in 1793. He was there until Montgomery Co. broke off in 1797. Shadrack, his brother William HERRING, and a widow, Sarah HERRING traveled together and came to Lincoln Co. in 1798, it becoming Pulaski in 1799. William HERRING died in 1818 Pulaski Co., leaving wife, JAne and his line went to Marion Co., IN as well as Bourbon Co., KY. Shadrack HERRING moved to Jackson Co., AL in 1820. I am looking for all possible information on the HERRIN/HERRON families of Laurel Co. and any help im identifying the parents of William [bef 1765-1818] and Shadrack HERRING [1765/1770-aft 1830]. William HERRIN, Sr. was born in 1786 NC and died in May 1860 in Laurel Co., KY.

Dale Mueller (navygrog@aol.com) -- SORRELL
I have a ton of information on Bath, Menifee, Rowan, Montgomery, Fleming and Pendleton County, KY SORRELLS. I can prove the SORRELL families of this area back to WILLIAM SORRELL of Caroline County, VA in 1700s and maybe further back. However I lack information on the later generations of SORRELLS in the area after the last census in 1920. That information must come from personal knowledge by family members of the area. I will happily share Sorrell information on early family members in return for information on the latter generations.
