THIS IS AN ABSTRACT OF THE APPLICATION FOR PENSION - - - FIELDING ASHBY - VIRGINIA 

                  
The above named soldier was living in the county of Oldham, state of Kentucky, when he applied 
for pension on the date of August 19, 1833, aged 70 years. 
He stated that he was born in the county of Frederick, State of Virginia, in 1763. He enlisted in the county of Frederick, State of Virginia, in 1779.

He left Virginia, in February, 1784, to go to Jefferson City, Tennessee.  In 1798 he moved to Kentucky about 23 miles from Louisville to a place in Jefferson County, afterward Shelby, now Oldham.

The affidavit of a fellow soldier who served with him, by the name of Robert Tyler, was made in the county of Jefferson, state of Kentucky, date of August 13, 1832, at the age of 83 years.  he stated that he had known Ashby more than 50 years.
