Hi Lynda,
This is a picture of my grandparents, Lester Spurlock and Ella Morris Spurlock
taken in Austin, Indiana in the late 1940`s. Standing next to them is my aunt Grace and her
husband, Rev. Orville Roberts.
Here is a bit of biography on my grandfather Lester:
Lester was born February 25, 1905 in Doorway, Perry County, Kentucky and
died December 5, 1960 in Dayton,Montgomery Co.,Ohio. Lester married Ella Morris
in March of 1926 in either Perry or Breathitt Co.,Ky. Lester was the son of
James Mannon "Jim" Spurlock and Alisee Fox. Lester is buried at the
David Cemetary,Kettering,Ohio.
Lester was a farmer up until 1941 when he moved the family to Austin,Indiana
to work in a canning factory during WWII. After 1951, Lester moved the family to Dayton,Ohio
and Began working at Delco until his untimely death.
Ella Morris Spurlock was born December 3, 1909 in Dalesburg,Breathitt
County,Kentucky and died June 16, 1990 in Dayton,Montgomery Co.,Ohio.
Ella was the daughter of Rev. Jerry J. Morris and Anna Riley.
Ella is also buried at the David Cemetary,Kettering,Ohio.
Ella was a homemaker for years until WWII and she also worked in the
canning factory as well as working in the sewing facotry in Middletown,Ohio.
After moving to Dayton,Ohio, she took on sewing for the dry cleaners and other businesses.
Aunt Grace is still living but her husband has since passed away.
My favorite memory of my grandpa?
Lester loved to tease his grandchildren, so one day when we were over visiting,
he said that Robin was his favorite little girl! Well, as you can guess,
that didn`t sit too well with me! I stomped my foot and said 'No, she`s
not you`re favorite! I am!" and at that he started laughing! LOL
I sure do miss him and grandma very much!
Sincerely,
Connie
