Purpose & History
The Rockcastle County Historical Society, Inc. is a non profit organization dedicated to
collecting, preserving and protecting the history of Rockcastle County and it's residents.
Membership
Membership dues are $10.00 annually (or $8.00 for students).
Our newsletter "Rockcastle Reminiscence" is published 4 times a year and sent out to all members.
If you would like to become a member, print a copy of our membership application
and mail it along with a check to the address on the form. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Monthly meetings are currently held at 5:30 P.M. on the 4th Thursday of each
month at the Rockcastle County Senior Citizens Building in Mt. Vernon.
Location
We are located in the RTEC Garage at:
85 Spring Street
Mt. Vernon, Kentucky
Directions: Spring Street runs pararell to Main Street one block to the north. From Main Street,
turn north onto Church Street. Church Street dead ends at the RTEC Garage Building.

Hours
Our hours of operation are:
Mondays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P. M.
(except Holidays and inclement weather in winter)
If you will be in the area for research and can't make it on a Monday, please contact us in advance.
The Society is staffed entirely by volunteers but we will make every effort to accommodate your visit.
Volunteers may check here to view the work schedule.
Research Materials
While our focus is Rockcastle County, our research materials include some other counties
and states as well. We have various transcribed county and census records, books of both historic
and genealogical interest and surname files containing unbound family history information.
