Wade b. unknown d. 16 Jan 1856 Notes on Henry: Henry Wade came to Ross Co. Ohio around 1835, all census records show he was born in Virginia as were his parents. Around 1857 he invented the worlds first steam powered wheat thrasher. After a couple years of trying to convince farmers to let him demonstrate, he became a wealthy man. He used his money purchase a substantial amount of land from Dr. Watts in Chillicothe Ohio. Henry was killed in a train derailment on the Ohio & Mississippi Railroad near Xenia IL on his way to visit his son William. A replica of his steam thrasher was given to the Ross Co. museum by a Mrs. Claude (Mary) Schaeffer of Pittsburgh PA around 1938, and a story on Henry was done in the newspaper by a Mrs. Leo (Betty) La Blanc of Champaign IL in 1955. I have information on Henry's children and their children but have been unable to locate any descendents of Mrs. Claude Schaeffer of PA or Leo La Blanc of IL, I am convinced these two women had the family records. Many of the other Wade descendents still live in Ross Co. Ohio. There are many, many, Henry Wades born and lived in Virginia around the time of my Henry's birth but I can not determine which one my Henry belongs to and am not even sure his fathers name was Henry. The census of Ross Co. 1870 shows an Edith Wade 81 Infirm living with Henry's family and I am thinking she was his mother, there is no death record of her in Ross Co. so I am assuming she went to live elsewhere before she died. Sorry to go on and on and on, but I have been unable to find any connection to Henry for years and am getting frustrated. Anyone that knows of my Henry or any of Mrs. Claude Schaeffer and Mrs. Leo La Blanc, please contact me, you don't know how much it would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
