Hello;
We are researching the Compton family, Lewis Compton was indentured in Cumberland Co in 1847. We have found other children living in different households in Adair Co in 1850 census, but a recent discovery shows one of these children Lewis brother Pinkney D. Compton is buried in Russell Co. And we now believe some of the children may have been indentured and possibly born in Russell Co. Any information on this family will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Jeanne & Bud Koopman

Garry Bell Wed Jul 15 1998 16:22:15 Can anyone supply the names for these "illegible" stones in the Russell Springs, KY Cemetery. An ACREE (17 Aug 1877 to 6/8 Feb 1901) whose first name looks to be "Mer--el. This stone is next to a Bettie ACREE (1875 to 1946, possible wife). Have a BURCHETT (15 Dec 1880 to 19 Feb 1905) whose first name looks to be " (C or G)arza(c or g)ie". The final mystery is first name Ader (21 Feb 1893 to 5 July 1912) and the last name appears to be "Ma(f or e)--ell" (eight letters in name). Anyone who can help supply this information will be helping complete this cemetery abstraction for inclusion in our historical society's first cemetery records book for Russell County.
