Opal Bowen Wed Jun 17 1998 18:10:19 STEPHENS John and Millie STEPHENS moved to Adair County, KY from Henry Co VA about 1809. They lived in the area of Adair that later was organized into Russell Co KY. John and Millie had sons William and John, Jr. Does anyone know if there were other children. What are the names of John Stephens parents? What was Millie’s maiden name and what were her parent’s names? Who did John, Jr. marry? Any information about them will be appreciated.

Karen Chilton Beverly Fri Jun 26 1998 11:32:28 I am very anxious to get information concerning Thomas Graves. I believe that he helped found Creelsboro, and was a Revolutionary soldier. I also believe that he was married to Mary Chilton. Furthermore, believe that he had the following children:Thomas Chilton Graves, Richard Graves, Jane Graves, Catherine Graves, and Benjamin Graves. Thomas Chilton Graves died in Ashley, Illinois. Believe that he was born about 1801, (1880 federal census gives his age as 79). Thomas Graves was probably born around 1763. I am most anxious to know whether all this information is correct about one Thomas Graves, or were there perhaps two in Kentucky. According to information I found, this Thomas Graves died in Russell County and his first wife's name was referred to a Polly (nickname for Mary?) Also one of these two Thomas Graves was the first postmaster of Creelsboro. Any confirmation about this father son relationship would be appreciated, and any information that Thomas C. middlename was Chilton would be very helpful. Karen Chilton Beverly.

Robert E. Burton, Jr. Tue Jun 30 1998 20:52:57 My name is Robert E. Burton, Jr., the son of Robert E. Burton, Sr., the son of Joseph Montgomery Burton, the son of Albert Montgomery Burton, the son of Joseph Burton born in Wayne County, KY. I’ve been told that my g.g.grandfather Joseph married A. Smith. I have been told that Joseph died at the battle of Millsprings when Albert was six. Albert, as I have been told had three brothers; Milfred, William, and Joseph.?? I was told that Albert had a cousin by the name of Newton Burton and one by the name of Molly Spears. My g.grandfather Albert married Abby Vianah Upchurch (daughter of Joseph Upchurch) and they had 15 children. Albert was born 01/01/1855 in what was then Russell County and died 04/13/1942. He and Abby were married 06/24/1879. There children were as follows: Martha Jane, b.09/09/1880; Emily Ann, b.09/10/1882; Joseph Montgomery, b.04/25/1885/d.03/09/1955; Molly Elizabeth, b.01/18/1887; Kitty Zorie,b. 02/16/1889/d. 04/02/1946; William Sherman, b.08/23/1890; Albert Lee,b. 06/10/1892, John Milfred, b.01/15/1894; Charles Wayne, b. 05/01/1896/ d. 07/12/1911; Lorinda (Rindy), b.04/03/1898; Belinda (Lindy), 11/11/1900, Fred, b. 11/18/1902; Etta Eva, b. 11/10/1904; Leva Elrie, b. 04/15/1907; Jessie Melvin, b. 07/03/1909. As you can see this line of Burtons was very prolific. I have more information on later generations however I am having trouble with Albert’s father Joseph. If you have knowledge of anything pertaining to Joseph and his children or the ancestors of Joseph please contact me. All of these Burton’s were living in Russell, Wayne, and Adair counties in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. --Thank you!!
