Cynthia Lawson Thu May 07 1998 09:59:58 EMBRY is the surname that I am researching. I was turned in the direction of Russell County and a WILLIAM "GRANCER" EMBRY. I would like to see if there is a connection. My great-great grandfather was CHARLES WALKER EMBRY born in 1850. He apparently had at least three other brothers,HOWARD the oldest, JOHN second eldest, and TALIAFERRO. Could possibly have been a sister named MARGARET. After the Civil War they left the plantation and moved to Kansas with their mother. I have no information on anyone other than Charles. Would like to find out Father and mothers names.

Gwen Edmonds Thu May 07 1998 13:43:43 BALLEW/McFARLAND My GGGF Harvey BALLEW b.1802 in NC m. Pernette Prather in Russell County, KY, Dec 1831. They are then found in Fannin County, TX, by 1850 & 1860 Census. I have tried to find him in Russell County prior to 1850. There are two BALLEW gentlemen I find in Russell County on the 1850 Census: Both are living in McFARLAND Households: 1) Huston R. BALLEW (b. Abt.1810 in KY). He is 40y/o, and living in the John McFARLAND household with what appears to be his wife, Mary Ann and four children: Sidney, Sarah E., Melissa, and Canzada (?). 2) George BALLEW (b. Abt. 1768 in VA). In 1850, he is listed as 82y/o, living in the Benjamin McFARLAND household. In 1860, he is listed as 95y/o, still living in the Benjamin McFARLAND household. I am trying to figure out if either of these gentlemen are connected to Harvey BALLEW, or if there are other BALLEWs in the area connected to Harvey. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!!
