Obituary: Griffith, Russell E. "Gene" Griffith, 67, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Estill, Ky., Oct. 11, 1931, the son of Franklin and Ollie Griffith. Mr. Griffith was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Lenox Trucking Co. of Cincinnati for 32 years as a truck driver, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. Preceding him in death was his father and sister, Roberta. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Nora "Arnett" Griffith; mother Ollie Griffith of Franklin; sons Mike Griffith and wife Shirley of Carlisle and Steve Griffith and wife Susan of Orange Park, Fla., and the Rev. Danny Griffith and wife Sonya of Miamisburg; brothers Bill Griffith of Miamisburg and John Griffith of Springboro; sisters Julie Dughemin of Franklin, Lillian Conley of Prestonburg, Ky., and Mary Opal Dooley of Springfield; and five grandchildren, Jeff, Todd, Jennifer, Luke and Tyler. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Unglesby-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Williams officiating. Burial will be at Springboro Cemetery.
