Wolfe County News, Feb. 17, 1954

Benjamin Thomas Gosney,  a native of Wolfe county, died in California 
recently at the age of 75 years.  He was the oldest son of the late 
Charles and Melissa Tutt Gosney and was born at Gosneyville, Ky, March 22, 
1878.

He lived in Campton and operated a store there many years before going 
to Oklahoma during the oil boom.  He and his family moved to Richmond, 
California, twelve years ago.

He had been in failing health, suffering from asthma and a heart 
condition, but his death was unexpected.

Survivors in addition to his nine children and wife, Etta Williams 
Gosney, are four brothers; W.H. Gosney, Newport, Ky.; Charlie Gosney, 
Drumright, Okla; Jim Gosney of Keifer, Okla. and Sullivan Gosney of 
Bakersfield, California, and three sisters, Mrs. Mayme Lallathin, Yakme, 
Washingotn, Mrs. Pearl Warden, Raymond, Washington and Mrs. Sarah Wright, 
Oneida, Tennessee.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Inez Cox 
of Campton and one brother, John Gosney of Avant, Okla.  He was laid to 
rest in the Sunset View Cemetery in the Berkley Hills beside a son, 
Jim, who passed away last year.
