Obits: Gibbs, Wardie, died 03/24/1949 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Wolfe County News, April 1, 1949 LINGERING ILLNESS FATAL TO VETERAN Wardie Gibbs, 28 son of Mrs. Malvie Gibbs Morris, of Hazel Green, and the late Renie Gibbs, died at the Veterans hospital in Dayton, O., Thursday, March 24, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Hazel Green Christian Church, Sunday afternoon at 1:00, by the Rev. Willie Taylor of Daysboro, assisted by Rev. H.T. Keeton of Versailles. Special music was furnished by Bill Dunn's choir and a solo was rendered by a solist from the Versailles Christian Church. The body was committed to the grave by Rev. Keeton after the American Legion Post No. 179 preformed the last funeral rites and presented Mrs. A.D. Morris, the mother with the flag. The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. A.D. Morris of Hazel Green, one sister Mrs. Reva Richardson and one brother, Mr. Chester Gibbs, both of Dayton, O.: and two daughters, Janette, 10 and Da_dena, 8, who live with their mother in Dayton, O. Several aunts and uncles and other relatives and a host of friends.
