Researching Marten, martain, von merten, martin families of the pisgah area. principally James H. Martain, Marten brothers who built fort at Bryans station. James Martin who was an elder and purchased land for Pisgah Presbyterian Church,Henry,John and William early settlers in Fayette County and Samuel who came from Fauquier Cty Va. Germanna community. Some of these were related and are said to have come from Augusta County area and some of them inter married. I go back through James Hodge Martin, who married Perlina E. Henry Martin was a brother to this James Martin. They came into Muhlenburg county and then Garrard county and on to Woodford from Cowpens S.C. but were said to have been from Augusta Cty Va.
