The Eaton's listed in the 1795 Tax list of Woodford County, Kentucky is the children of George Eaton, Sr. George Eaton Sr. came from Pennsylvania to Rowan, North Carolina. Around 1787 some of the family moved to Woodford County, Kentucky. George Eaton Jr came with his brothers, James, John, and Joseph. In some records it shows that George Sr had a daughter Sarah, so the Sarah could be the sister of George, James, John and Joseph, but I have no proof. My line is George Eaton, Jr. who moved to Posey County, Indiana around 1812 from Kentucky. Which Eaton is your line? Would like to hear from you on what information you have on the Eaton's..

I am researching the family of Samuel Morrow who was a fairly early settler of Woodford Co. My research shows that he was married three times, 1st unknown, 2nd Sarah CALDWELL, and 3rd Anne WALKER. My research also indicates that he was far too old to be the son of John and Mary (RUTHERFORD) MORROW as has been proposed. I would like information on his children and parentage. Will gladly share all that I have.

My ancestor, Robert ELLIOTT, purchased Treasury Land abt. 1784 but did not go to KY until abt. 1788 - He died in Woodford Co. in 1802 - Notice in KY Gazette that a bill was signed in KY Legislature allowing Robert's land holdings be dispersed among his heirs in 1804; another notice in 1805 again mentions Robert's property being divided among the heirs - I have been unable to find anything on this division - Can any one tell me where I might be able to find it?? or any info about Treasury Land?? What did the Legislature have to do with the land?? Thanks much!

Rita, Elizabeth Francis SHIELDS, a daughter of John SHIELDS and Esther BLAKE married Henry C. THOMPSON, a brother of my GGFather. I found John and Esther in the 1850 Census for Woodford County. Based on the ages of their children, they must have married about 1833, most likely in Woodford County. I have checked three sources (one book of marriages and two Bruderbund CD's)for their marriage and have not found it. Do you know the names of John SHIELDS' parents? Are they James Shields and Martha Paul? I got Esthers' last name off of Elizabeths Death Certificate..

I am looking for information on my g-g grandfather, William Henry Warren, Sr. He was born January 12, 1812, in Woodford Co., KY, possibly in Georgetown. It is said that his father was William Barton Warren, who died around 1809-1818 in Georgetown. I am told that he married Mary Elizabeth Sheddrick on May 04, 1842. They had 13 children, one of which was my great grandfather, John Thomas Warren. I don't have any solid information on William Henry Warren, Sr. I have been given a lot of my info from my grandmother but no documents or sources. Any help that you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Heidi Hafner.

Looking for information on my great-grandfather WIlliam Mitchell, believed to have been born in Woodford Co. about April 1855. I think he died in Franklin Co in 1906. I do not know his parents but both were born in KY according to census. He married Electra Poole (1859-1918) of Franklin Co. My grandfather was Henry Mitchell (1884-1915) The Poole's may have had some connection to Woodford Co because I think Electra's father Henry J Poole died there in Oct 1921. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Researching family of Thomas H. Dean (1799-???), and Malinda Rowland Dean (1806-???), of Woodford County. Children of this family as listed in the 1850 census were: Jerry R (1841-???), David Thornton (1845-1914), Emily (1845-???), and C.H. (1847-1907). David Thornton Dean was my gg-grandfather. There is a Matilda Dean (1832-???) listed in the same household but she was born before the 1835 marriage of Thomas and Malinda. She is either Thomas' daughter from a previous marriage, or a relative living with the family..

Bob, Thanks for the information. We found John SHIELDS and Esther BLACK on their son John's death certificate in Woodford Co. KY. Could easily be Blake or Black. My husband's Ggrandfather was Robert J. Shields. Can't find his wife's name. She died about 1879 leaving 3 children, James , John and Laura. James born in 1866 is my husband's grandfather. Robert left KY and went to work in the coal mines in IN. Laura was left with her grandparents in KY. She married a Stivers. Rita.
