BLASINGAME, PAYNE, TERRY, THOMPSON posted by Bonnie Snow on Saturday, April 3, 1999: I am seeking information on the Thompson family who moved to Scott Co. in the 1700's from Louisa Co., VA. Richard Thompson born abt. 1755 in Louisa Co., VA died 1802 in Scott Co. Richard married Sarah Terry April 23, 1786 in Louisa or Goochland Co., VA. They had the following children: Joseph T.; Richard Jr.; James; Steven; Elias; Rebecca; Frances; Katherine; Mariah; Nancy; and my ancestor, Samuel Gentry Thompson. I don't know who, when, or where Samuel married but he had a son, Newton P. Thompson. I don't know anything about Newton either except that he had a daughter, Sallie Thompson, who married William Buckley Blasingame Dec. 22, 1881, in Pendleton Co., KY. Newton was on the 1900 census for Pendleton Co., living with his daughter Sallie and her husband, William Blasingame. He was listed as being born April, 1843 in Kentucky. He married Sarah Terry April 23, 1786 in Louisa CO., VA. They moved to Scott Co., KY. They are said to have had the following children: Joseph, married Margarite Miller; Richard; James; Steven, married Verlinda?; Elisa, married Mary Harris,; Rebecca, married James Perry; Katherine, married John D. Graves; Frances, married Joseph Jones; Mariah, married Steven Lucas; Nancy, married Richard Swan; and my ancestor, Samuel Gentry Thomason/Thompson born 6/29/1788 in Louisa CO., VA; died 1852 in Scott CO., KY. I don't know who, when or where he married. He had a son, Newton P. Thompson who, according to the 1900 census for Pendleton CO., KY, was born April, 1843, in KY. He was living with his daughter, Sallie/Sarah and her husband, William Buckley Blasingame. I don't know anything else about Newton P. Thompson except that the P. might stand for Payne. They had 3 daughters Minnie who wed a Grimes,Mary (Mollie) who wed a Duvall, Essie who wed a Schooler. I believe they went to Indiana, but I need what county.
