The 5 Defunct Parishes

The Five Defunct Parishes

 

Biloxi Parish was formed in 1811 from the West Florida territory and was eliminated in 1812 when portions of  former West Florida transferred to the Mississippi territory.

Carroll Parish was formed in 1838 from a part of Ouachita Parish. It was divided in 1877 into the East Carroll and West Carroll Parishes.

Feliciana Parish was formed in 1810 from the West Florida territory. In 1812 it was eliminated after part of the former West Florida area was transferred to the Mississippi Territory

Pascagoula Parish was formed in 1811 from the West Florida territory. In 1812 it was eliminated when part of the former West Florida area transferred to the Mississippi territory.

Warren Parish was formed in 1811 from a portion of the Concordia Parish. It merged into the Concordia and Ouachita Parishes in 1814.
