Will of George Mock, Sr
In the name of God Amen. I Joseph Mock of the parish of Catahoula
and state of Louisiana being very sick and weak in body, but in perfect mind
and memory, thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortally of my body
and knowing that it is appointed for all men next to die. I do make this and
ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first
of all I gave and recommend my soul unto the hand of God that gave it and my
body I recommend to the earth to be buried in -------- Christian buried at the
descencession of my executor and in such worthily excence where with it has
please God to bless me in this life.
I give and dispose of the same in following manner.
First I give and bequest to Rachel Mock my dearly beloved wife as follows, the plantation where on I live during her life then after her death to fall to John Harrison my son in law, also all my household furniture and plantation tools I give and bequest to Rachel Mock my wife, also I give her four cows by name, Blaze, Froty, Redhead, Silk and all the young cattle that I have that is marked with a swallow fork in one year and an upper bit and under bit also the hoggs in the same, also three horses eveting Starling, Struck, Ratter.
Also I give and bequest to my son in law Robert Hathorn a certain tract of land containing two hundred acres of land lying in the state of Georgia, also one cow by name Browny marked with a smooth crop in each year.
Also I give and bequest to my son in law John Harrison all my stock of
cattle and hoggs, that is to say all the cattle marked with a swallow fork in
one year and under bite in the other, all the cattle to be divided equally between
his children and himself, all except what has been before mention. Also one
young mare by the name Jewel I give and bequest to my grandson James Harrison,
also I do appoint John Harrison my executor for the property that I gave him
and his children and I do further dissolve, revoke and disannul all and every
other former testament wills, legacies bequests and executors by me in any wise
before named willed and bequested ratify and confirming this and no other to
be my last will and testament in witness where of I have of I have here before
set my hand and seal this 7th day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and
Seventeen.
