My ancestor, Joab SCALLORN, was born 06 Jan 1823, probably in Claiborne
Parish, where he grew up. His parents were John SCALLORN and Jane Hays
DREW, who obviously divorced after his birth. They both appear later in
Claiborne Parish married to other spouses. I have a lot of information
on the DREW family, but I lose John SCALLORN. I think he is the same as
the John SCALLORN in Jackson Parish in the 1850 census. If so, his
second wife is Elizabeth? Does anyone know Elizabeth's last name or
where John SCALLORN died? I know he had died by 1851 when Joab
relinquished rights to his property and then moved to Grimes Co., TX.
Would like to hear from anyone interested in these families.

We are trying to establish the connection between Louisiana and France of
Charles Sallier (founder of Lake Charles), my paternal great...great
grandfather.
I was able to copy a genealogy chart in Chambery, Savoy, France in 1995.
However, I cannot find the direct link between these Salliers and those
in Louisiana.
I also visited towns and cemeteries in Tournon, Albertville, Annecy, and
other small towns in Savoy, France.
I will appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Best Regards,
