The Mississippi River
from the Natchez, Adams Co., MS side, looking
towards Vidalia, Concordia
Parish, LA. To the left, the LADY LUCK
casino boat is moored
at Natchez Under-The-Hill. The bridge was
opened on Sept. 26, 1940.
Prior to that, ferries transported travelers
across the river.
For many years, the Robert McNEELY family of
Natchez owned and operated
the only ferry connecting the two cities.

Donnelly Lake at New Era
- For years mistakenly called Donald
Lake. This lake
is located near the Black River and was possibly
one time part of
it. It is a beautiful lake of about 350 acres and, in
addition to it's beauty,
offers some great fishing. The lake is pretty
much isolated from the
general public, and is peaceful and serene.

The Black River (foreground) where it joins the Red River (center, top) near Acme, Concordia Parish, LA. In this photo, The Red River combines with with the Black River from the right. The Black River is flowing to the left where it makes a bend and continues south, southeast toward the Mississippi River (about 20 miles away as the crow flies.) Three Louisiana parishes meet at this confluence: Concordia (foreground), Avoyelles (left), and Catahoula (top right).
