Petty, June Newman Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she died Saturday,April 29, 2006. She was 79 and a resident of Slaughter. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Zachary on Tuesday, May 2, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. She is survived by her husband of 61.5 years, Charles "Ray" Petty of Slaughter; daughter and son-in-law Lynnie and Bob McCord of Slaughter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, C. Wayne and Cheryl Petty of Houston and A. Richard Petty of Baton Rouge; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Brenda Newman of Fredericksburg, Texas; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Zachary where she taught Sunday School for many years. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Zachary Manor for their compassion and care.
